Obituary: James Yeatropoulos, age 90, passed away on , 14, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Megas Yeatropoulos; his children, Tony Yeatropoulos (Jennifer), Sophia Mouzakis (Fotis); four grandchildren, Jessica Nicole (Roland), James, Chrisoula (Justin) and Katherine and one great-grandchild, Aleczandr. Other survivors include his sister, Eva Mastro and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim had a distinguished career serving in the United States Navy as a helicopter pilot, and he eventually rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He received outstanding commendations from each and every commanding officer under whom he served. During his military service, Jim and his wife Helen, adopted their son, and later their daughter from Greek orphanages. The young family especially enjoyed their post in Naples, Italy, where they lived until returning to the States 1966. Following his retirement from the military, Jim and his family settled in Jacksonville, his wife Helens hometown. In Jacksonville, Jim has been a longtime member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. He not only enjoyed membership in the AHEPA but hosted or took part in many church functions including the Christmas Pancake Breakfasts, Greek Festivals and a myriad of other events. He also began a partnership with his long time friend, Wiliam Walter and cousin, Paris Walter at The Longhorn Palace restaurant in Lincoln, New Hampshire, where the family spent their summers and autumns, as well. A Trisagion (Orthodox Memorial Service) will be held at Saint John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 3850 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida on , 18th at 6:30pm. The funeral service will also be held at the church on , 19th at 10:00am with interment immediately following, after which a luncheon in his honor (Makaria) will be served in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Saint John the Divine, The Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice in his honor.
