Obituary: Jim passed away peacefully at his home in Aptos after a long illness. Jim was born in Phoenix, AZ to Thomas and Elizabeth Washington. His family moved several times during his youth and finally settled in Watsonville where he attended elementary school. He graduated from Watsonville High School in 1952 and attended Hartnell . Jim served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957. Jim worked for the City of Monterey for several years before beginning his career with the City of Watsonville. He worked as a junior civil engineer, planner and zoning administrator before retiring in 1985. He continued to draw house and apartment plans in his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and visiting Las Vegas with his wife, following horse races and playing bingo. Jim leaves his wife Lorraine of 48 years, sons Timothy of London, England, Michael of Aptos, a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Kathi) Beerbohm of Maryland, cousins Betty Sue (Allen) Bjur, Greg Bjur, Julie Bjur, Kerri Barrick, Frances Guthrie, Vergie Doris Musgrave and Gerrald McBrayer, nephew Eric (Leslie) Beerbohm, nieces Elissa (Jeff) Jensen, Morgan (Justin) Langlois, and his lifetime friend Thomas Gordon (Ruth). He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Elizabeth Washington. The family thanks Hospice of Santa Cruz for their wonderful care of Jim and their support to the family. The family asks that any donations in Jims name be made to Hospice, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley 95066 or Santa Cruz SPCA, P.O. Box 3800, Santa Cruz 95063. Obituary: Going Celebration For Rev. James Henry Washington Sunrise Sunset 10/27/1932 7/22/2015 James was born to Robert and Betty Washington. He was the second of ten children. His birthplace was Ripley, Tennessee. The Washington Family moved to Muncie, Indiana when Jim was six years old, so the children wouldn have to go to a one room school house. Jim and his siblings attended Longfellow Elementary School, and then Jim attended McKinley Jr. High. Jim joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, in Muncie, Indiana. Jim and two of his brothers, Bill and Lemmie, and a friend, Robert Darden, The four teenagers formed a gospel quartet. broadcast every morning before school for 15 minutes, on radio station WLBC. In Jr High School, Jim played football, continued in High school until his 11 grade. He worked full time during his senior year, He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1951. James joined the U.S.A.F. on 14, 1952. He had five overseas Tours of duty and five state side. Tacoma, Washington was his last assignment. He retired 1, 1974. James and Lessie met in of 1961. Together they raised five children: James E., Dyvonne, Kim, Leon and Jeanette. James H. Washington was ordained as a minister in the C.M.E. Church in 1996. He was pastor of Henry Memorial C.M.E. Church in Redding, He retired in 2006. In 2009 James and his family joined St. Marks M.B.C. Proceeded in death: Parents, Robert and Betty Washington; Brothers, Willie Earest Bill, Robert Jr. Bob, Roy, Lemmie; Sisters, Nettie and Cozzette. He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving wife Lessie; Sons: Rev. James E. (Michele) of Springboro, Ohio, Leon (Melinda) of Sacramento, California; Daughters: Dyvonne of Palo Cedro, California, Kim of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jeanette of Sacramento, California. Granddaughters: Alexis, Kaneisha, Faith and Ella. Grandson: Joshua, Brother: Tray Washington of Muncie, Indiana, Sisters, Dorothy Strickland (Wayman) of San Francisco, California, Kay Smith (Irving) of Fisher, Indiana, Sister-In-Law, Juanita Washington of San Francisco. Nieces: Darlene, Karen, Courtney, Christy, Sue, Myisa and Bobbi Lynn. Nephews: Wayman (Michele), Stephen (Shayla), Aunt; Genevieve Bradford of Ripley, Tennessee. Obituary: Jacie Lee Washington, born 12, 1921 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The youngest child of Betty and Eddie Hendrix, went home on 23, 2014 in Stockton, California. She moved from Muskogee, Oklahoma with her parents and elder sister Glovia to farm in the Delta. a brief stay with family in Yakima, Washington, she returned to Stockton to finish her education. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1939. She married her childhood sweetheart Clarence Washington in 1940 and they had nine children, Christine and Kathleen "twins", Stephen Dale, Gerald, Douglas Lee, Janet, Gloria Ann, Bruce Edward, and Marsha Louise. Jacie was employed by Tillie Lewis cannery, the California Walnut plant, and after earning her teaching certificate she was an assistant teacher at the California Youth Authority in Manteca, CA. Jacie was the president of the PTA while her children were in school, she also volunteered to work the election polls and participate in local political campaigns. She and her husband of 47 years were part of the founding group for the Pre-War II Stocktonians. A group of African Americans born and raised in California prior to world war II. Jacie was an avid reader. She loved to work in her vegetable garden. She shared her life with neighbors and friends of every walk of life, and she worked with her husband on his charter bus trips serving as the unofficial hostess. Jacie was baptized in the Methodist church at a young age, later in life she joined the Jehovah Witness church prayer group which faithfully met with her on a weekly basis for prayer and support. Jacie was supportive of her children and grandchildren. She welcomed her grandchildren to spend the summers with her and also raised two of her grandchildren. Jacie, being the last of her generation, was preceded in death by her Husband Clarence Washington Jr., in 1987, her two sisters, Annie Whittle and Glovia Jordan, her four brothers Richard Hendrix, Voyce Hendrix, Oleander Hendrix and David Hendrix, and her two sons, Gerald Washington and Bruce Edward Washington. Jacie leaves to mourn her seven children, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
