Obituary: VONZELL M. WATSON (1930-2015) Pell City, AL - Von would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call on the 13th, a sort of an offer you can refuse, for an appointment with Her Lord from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, the Everlasting Arms of Her Savior Jesus Christ and a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, singing, dancing, gardening, working crosswords and reading to her hearts content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her daughters to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. She would like to especially thank St. Vincent and Hospice. Von is survived by four daughters, Terry Price Ware, Vicky Raye Price, Cindy J. (James) Anderson, and Molly Price (Larry) Butler. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and the father of her children, James W. Price. She was also predeceased by husbands Russell M. Everett, Walter Savage, and A. J. Watson, as well as her grandson Martin Edward Ware and her foster son Gerald Bubba Lawson. We want to let her know that she did a fabulous job and wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her barbecue sauce, her quilts, her love for her church, life, family and friends, but also co-workers in the propane gas industry and at the Pell City School Board, many of whom also became friends. She worked very hard all her life both in paid employment and in volunteer work, especially singing in her church choir and serving on various church committees. She made a difference in the lives of many. We invite you to join us and celebrate together. In lieu of flowers, Von prefers donations to the Music Ministry and to the Bereavement Committee of Cropwell Baptist Church. ARRANGEMENTS: Celebration of Life will take place on , 21, at 2 p.m., at Cropwell Baptist Church, 2700 Hardwick Road, Pell City, AL, Brother Andy Handley officiating. Obituary: TUSCALOOSA | Stanley R. Watson, age 96, of Tuscaloosa, died 14, 2014, at VA Hospital. Services will be 1 p.m. , 17, 2014, at Sunset Chapel, with Albert Lyles officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church with Sunset , a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Mae; granddaughter, Rebecca Turberville; grandson, Tim Turberville; and two sons-in-law, Wilson Turberville and Allan Sullivan.Survivors include his daughters, Jackie Watson Sullivan and Judy Watson Turberville; sister, Mary Elizabeth Welch of Houston, Tx.; grandchildren, Jason Sullivan and Scott Turberville; great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Sullivan, Chelsey Clark, and Tristen Burnett; and great-great-grandchild, Landon Clark.He served in the United States Army under Gen. He was a pipe fitter in the Plumbers Fitters Local #52 and was a member of Linwood Baptist Church in Columbus. He was a member of the Wilson Williams Lodge #351, Alcazar Shrine Temple in Montgomery, AL, Vashti Chapter 431 OES in Lanett, AL and a member if the Scottish Rite Temple in Columbus, GA. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Grace Barron and brothers, Paul Watson and Ned Watson. Major (Retired) Watson was born 13, 1921 in Mansfield, Louisiana to the late Royce and Mayflower Watson. He was a member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church. Major Watson Retired was called to serve his country in 1941. He entered the service from Texas in 1942 and received a commission as a Second Lieutenant and his Aviators wings from the Naval Flight School in early 1943. He was selected to be an Aviator in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater for the duration of the war. He was a carrier based fighter pilot that participated in several major battles. His decorations included the Air medal with five oak leaf clusters, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Battle Stars, The Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and The WWII Victory Medal-Pacific. He remained in the service after WWII and flew Marine Corps Fighter Bombers during The Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Medal and The National Defense Service Medal. service in Korea, he continued to serve in various staff and Command positions attaining the rank of Major in The Marine Corps and retiring from active duty on May 31, 1965. During his military career, he flew over 5700 flight hours in 31 different types of aircraft including jets and helicopters. his military service, he flew more than 1200 accident free flight hours as a helicopter flight instruct at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He loved flying and he was proud to have served his country as a Marine. Semper Fi! He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Royce Watson; sister, Judy Walston of Midland, Tx; brother, Ruben Babe Watson of Midland, Tx. Major (Retired) Watson is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Watson; sister, Dorothy Gray (Ira) of Abilene, Tx.; sister-in-law, Pat Reazin of Hitchcock, Tx.; grandson, Jason Carl Watson of Grottes, Va.; nieces and nephews, Debbie Osborn, Connie Patterson, Neal Gray, Sharon Wilson, Jay Watson, Shelley Lane, Ted Shook (Karen) of Galveston, TX, and Dennis Shook (Janet) of Houston, TX.
