Obituary: Norman G. Witwer, age 97, devoted husband and wonderful father of 3, grandfather of 7, and great-grandfather of 5, passed on to be with our Lord on 12, 2017. Born 4, 1919, Norman lived with his fine parents, Edith and Russell Witwer and brother, Herbert, in Gettysburg, Ohio, where he graduated from Gettysburg High School. He continued his education and graduated from Miami Jacobs Business , Dayton, OH in accounting and married his wonderful wife Helen in 1942. He then served his country in the army and was a proud and distinguished veteran of World War II. returning from the war he worked 10 years as an office manager for Dayton Reliable Motors and worked 25 years until his retirement as an accountant at the EF McDonald in Dayton , OH. Norman was a golf enthusiast and actually shot his age when he was 83 and had 3 hole-in-ones in his lifetime. He was active at Shiloh Church, UCC where he served as a Deacon and was a life member of the Masonic Lodge of the Gettysburg, OH Chapter. He and his wife Helen enjoyed travel, square dancing, bridge and family gatherings; always putting family first. Norman is preceded in death by his wife Helen, married for 69 years and parents Edith and Russell Witwer and his brother Herbert Witwer. Norm is survived by their three children; Stephen (Margaret) of Fishers, IN, Douglas (Linda) of Dublin, OH, Susan Thomas (Daniel) of North, VA. Seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Stephanie and Matthew Witwer, Natalie (Matt) Metzler (Adelaide, Weston and Elle great grandchildren and Nicholas Witwer, Kyle and Colin Thomas, and Rebecca (Adam) Wolter (Logan and Casey, great grandchildren). A memorial service is planned to be later this year with a private family burial in May. Obituary: Witthoefft, Reba H., 100, passed away 2, 2015. A resident of Richmond for many years, Mrs. Witthoefft was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and her life span was 25 years longer than the collective lives of her mother, maternal grandmother, and paternal great-grandmother. Her Puritan ancestors planted the seeds of the life of faith she embraced for a century. She was the widow of Edward C. Witthoefft, Sr. and their joyful, loving marriage produced four sons who were the center of both their lives. Her sons were all her favorites as were her daughters-in-law and all of her grandchildren. She is survived by sons, Edward, Jr. (Karen); Charles (Lane); Martin (Ann); Gary (Kitty), all of Richmond. Yet another joy was her life-long friendship with Mary Cochran who predeceased her. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Mark Witthoefft (Kirsten Recknagel) and Susan Grossman (Josh) of Chicago, IL, Jason (Susan), Ned (Annie), and Brian (Jaclyn) Witthoefft of Richmond; Tim Witthoefft (Sarah) of Austin, TX; Ben Witthoefft of Arlington, VA; Erin Irwin (Bart) of Norfolk, VA; Lauren Baggett (Chip) of Roanoke, VA; and Adam Witthoefft (Darcy) of Richmond. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Ella, Liza, Campbell, Charlotte, Alexis, Charlie, Abby, Will, Nora Kate, Ragan, Luke, and Parker. Reba was active in her community and an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church; for many years she was a volunteer with the Braille Circulating Library in Richmond. The family will receive friends at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody , 1020 Huguenot Road on , 6, 2015 from 6 pm-8 pm. A celebration of her life will be held , 7, 2015 beginning at 10 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church with a reception to follow. Burial will be at 12:30 pm, Dale Memorial Park. Obituary: VIRGINIA BEACH - Herbert E. Wittersheim, 89, passed away 25, 2010 after battling many ailments during the last 7 months. Born May 28, 1921 in Bellwood, Illinois, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Marion Julison Wittersheim; daughter Joanne E. Wittersheim; son Martin R. Wittersheim of Midlothian, Virginia; and brothers, Arthur & Alfred Wittersheim. He graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, Illinois in 1939. He served as a Machinist Apprentice with Diesel Engineering & Manufacturing Co. (DEMCO) in Chicago. While serving his Apprenticeship, Herb was awarded a mechanical engineering scholarship by DEMCO & attended Armour Institute (now Illinois Institute of Technology). He proudly served in the US Army during World War II. While in training in Laramie, Wyoming, he married his sweetheart Marion Julison on 21, 1944. Herb established the High Speed & Heavy Diesel Training Schools at the Armys Transportation Training at Fort Eustis, Va. Upon his honorable discharge from the service in 1948, he founded Diesel Injection Sales & Service, Inc. on Union Street in Norfolk. Herb ran the fuel injection and governor shop while his wife, Marion greeted customers, handled the bookkeeping duties and kept an eye on their first son riding his tricycle in the parking lot. Growing out of room at the original location, he built a new building and the business moved to the corner of Brambleton Ave and Tidewater Drive. As a result of hard work by over 280 extremely dedicated and loyal employees, Diesel Injection Sales and Service eventually expanded to ten locations throughout Virginia, North and South Carolina. Herb was especially proud to be one of the Founders and Charter Members, and the First President of the Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) which was founded in Chicago in 1956. Beginning with 21 members at the first meeting, ADS now has over 750 Members in the US, Canada and 56 other countries. He attended every ADS Convention from 1956 to 2009 for a perfect 53 straight years attendance record. Herb later purchased and served as President & CEO of Automotive Training Institute in Virginia Beach. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Norfolk for 61 years; an avid sports lover; and active member of the Norfolk Sports Club and Tidewatchers Booster Club; and was known as Mr. Kiwanis for his love, dedication and active membership with the Kiwanis Club of Norfolk. Herb is survived by his friend and companion over the last eight years, Peggy Voight; son Raymond G. Wittersheim and wife Caralyn of Suffolk; daughter-in-law Suzanne D. Wittersheim of Midlothian, Va.; six grandchildren, Corey Wittersheim, Kayla Wittersheim, Tiffney Wittersheim, Allison W. Anders; Candice W. Smith and husband Chris, and Charles Brent Wittersheim and wife, Sara; and two great grandchildren, Lila Grace Wittersheim and Rory Martin Wittersheim; and a sister Ruth L. LeBeau and husband Dr. Arthur LeBeau of Elmhurst Illinois. Herbs family sends special thanks to the staff of Bayside in Virginia Beach for the very professional and compassionate care given to Herb during the last seven months. The family would also like to thank Peggy Voight for being Herbs companion and guardian angel over the past eight years.
