Obituary: RICHARD WILLIAMS "Rick" Passed away 6, 2009 after a heroic 14 month battle with cancer. He was 55. Originally born in Bluefield, WV, Rick moved to Northern Virginia in the mid 1960\s. In 1983 Rick co-founded Williams Bus Lines, Inc, and has since served as the company\s Vice President. Rick is survived by his loving wife Tammy Williams; children, Angel Santee, Joshua Williams and Sarah Williams; son-in-law, Matthew Santee; daughter-in-law, Amy Williams; five grandchildren, Paige, Bryce, Preston, Emily and MaKenzie. He is further survived by three sisters, Brenda, Gwen, and Jeannie; two brothers, Harry and Charles; and multiple nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at the Alive Gathering Ministries, 6820A Commercial Dr, Springfield, VA 22151 on 14 at 11:30 a.m. The service will be open for family and friends. Obituary: Reverend Otis L. Williams, Jr. was born to Otis L. Williams, Sr. and Virginia M. Bassett-Williams on 11, 1943 in a Christian-based household in Hannibal, Missouri. In his home surrounded by loving family members, Rev. Williams graduated from grace to glory on May 13, 2014. Rev. Williams believed education was the fuel that could launch ones dreams toward their destiny. As an adolescent, Otis was nurtured in Hannibals Douglas school system. He went on to receive an Associates degree from Hannibal LaGrange . While pursuing his Bachelors degree in Social and Political Science and History from Truman University, Kirksville, Otis joined the prestigious men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Epsilon Eta Chapter). In 1964, while in Kirksville, Otis met a fellow student from Mexico, MO, the love of his life, Ernestene T. Christian (Tina). dating throughout college, the couple wed on 22, 1967. The Williams created fifty years of shared experiences, enjoyed together and strengthened even more with the love of each others families. Residing in states like Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia & South Carolina, Otis and Tina experienced a diverse array of Americana most people could not imagine. Because of so many moves to new and unfamiliar surroundings, the Williams instilled in their children self-confidence and assurance. It was important that Darrieux and Kristen continue to make friends throughout their adolescence, some who are still present in their lives today. Rev. Williams instilled in his only son Seneca, that he remain steadfast in his convictions and defeat any obstacles placed in his lifes path. That advice was essential after Seneca graduated from high school and was stationed overseas serving with the US Army. Rev. Williams eldest daughter, Lisa was a blessing for the family. A lifelong resident of Hannibal, Missouri, Lisa entered the Williams fold and shared Otis love for the Lord which manifested with her own ordination within the clergy family. As a newlywed, Rev. Williams volunteered for enlistment in the United States Army. being awarded with several promotions and proudly serving for three years, he was honorably discharged at the rank of E-6, Staff Sergeant. Otis respectfully declined an offer to Officer Candidate School and instead chose to return home to his wife and young daughter to pursue a career in the petroleum industry. Otis was hired by Mobil Corporation in 1970 and requested an assignment in a rural area. As a Marketing Rep in Ottumwa, Iowa, he embraced the challenge of being one of the first Black reps in a non urban environment; believing the experience would make him a more viable managerial prospect than his colleagues. He was correct. thirty years of employment, numerous accomplishments and competitive transfers to eight different states, Rev. Williams retired in the year 2000 from Exxon Mobil Corporation Headquarters as a Customer Relations and Service Manager, overseeing multi-million dollar accounts, acquisitions and national marketing promotions. Rev. Williams spiritual trip began in May 1973 when he personally accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized and began his personal walk with God under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Lloyd C. Williams at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Omaha, Nebraska. In 1979 he was ordained as a deacon with duties as a new members coordinator, School superintendent and church leader. In 1982, Mobil transferred him to Pittsburgh, PA. There he united with Mt. Ararat Baptist Church continuing his leadership duties as deacon and School teacher. In 1984, the Williams family joined Canaan Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA where Rev. Williams served as deacon and budget committee coordinator. working more than a decade and a half, Otis earned another promotion; this time to Mobil headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. This opportunity provided the tremendous blessing for the then Deacon Williams to be introduced to the Mount Olive Baptist Church family in Centreville, VA. There, Rev. Williams and Deaconess Williams enjoyed their longest membership with one branch of Zion. Starting in 1986, Rev. Williams served with a dedicated group of deacons, trustees and church leaders promoting and teaching for the glorification of God under the leadership of Pastor John E. Blackmon. 1 Peter 4:10 states, Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God. And therefore, whether as a School superintendent, new members coordinator, a member of Gospel Choir, Thomas Family Leader or as an active participant in MOBC Mens Ministry, Rev. Williams used his gifts to the fullest and exhorted everyone in his presence do so as well. Following his retirement from Exxon Mobil in 2000, he took a short break and soon began working for MOBC fulltime as Church Administrator as well as providing outreach support by teaching weekly Bible study at the Manassas Senior Citizen . One of Rev. Williams most urgent prayers was that God would confer his direction in life. The Lord clearly provided a confirmation call into ministry in 2000. Otis followed His directive and received a Masters of Divinity/Christian Education from Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Divinity at Virginia Union University in 2003. Under the guidance of his ministerial father, Pastor Dr. Eugene Johnson, Rev. Williams was licensed to preach the gospel in 2001 and ordained in May 2004. The Lord fulfilled the desires of Rev. Williams heart and blessed him in 2007 with a pastoral position at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church (TMBC), Greeleyville, SC. As Pastor, Otis implemented a full board of trustees, a church constitution, renovation of the sanctuary and completion of a new baptistery, fellowship hall and kitchen. Even while battling Multiple Myeloma, Rev. Williams served and comforted patients and their families as a chaplain with a Savannah Hospice agency. Finishing another chapter in their lives, Otis and Tina returned to their MOBC family in 2013. Standing before MOBC members, Rev. Williams exclaimed joyfully, We home yall!
