Obituary: Mrs. Mary Louise Whiteside, 86, a resident of Shenandoah, passed away at 5:37 morning, 26, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. A daughter of the late Marcellus and Clara Showalter Brown, she was born on 16, 1924 in Rockingham county and graduated from Mt. Clinton High School. She was Cafeteria Manager of Shenandoah Elementary School prior to her retirement at age 75. Mrs. Whiteside was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church; and Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her flowers, sewing and singing. On 10, 1945 she married John H. Bugs Whiteside, Jr., who preceded her in death on 14, 1983. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Baugher and her husband, Roy, of Shenandoah; and Alice Hansberger of Timberville; two sons, John R. Whiteside and his wife, Lisa, of Luray and Mark Whiteside of Shenandoah; six grandchildren, Roy C. Baugher, III, Brandon L. Baugher; Jeremiah B. Baugher, Jacob J. Baugher, Abigail Louise Hansberger, and Leona Dean; and five great-grandchildren Emily & Hannah Baugher; Cole Thomas, Blake and Raegan Dean. She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, John Douglas Hansberger. She the last surviving member of her immediate family being preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Ashby, Samuel, Charlie and Marcellus Jr., Brown and sisters, Edna Frank, Laura Frank, Pearl Miller, Estelle Emswiler, Frances Thomas and her identical twin, Lucille Wampler. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 this ( ) evening, 28, 2011 at the Lindsey-Kyger in Shenandoah. Graveside services will be private and the casket will be closed.
