Obituary: Helen P. Wride, one who lived a life of quiet service, passed away 7, 2008 in Payson Utah, just 18 days short of her 99th birthday. Helen, born in Spanish Fork Utah, 31, 1909, the 4th of 8 children of David Prior and Hulda Carlquist was only 10 years old when both of her parents died during the flu epidemic of 1919-1920. The 7 surviving children were reared by a bachelor Uncle George Prior. Helen enrolled at Brigham Young Academy and earned enough credits to certify as an elementary school teacher. teaching school for four years, she and Wayne Wride eloped to California in 1935. When they returned to Utah they did not tell anyone about the marriage because she would loose her job as a teacher, since it was against district policies at that time for married women to teach school. Her teaching carrier extended over 42 years, during which time she completed her Bachelors degree at BYU, gave birth to two children, served actively in her church, was a member of civic and social clubs, and was at one time a principal of the Spring Lake School. Her Swedish grandmother taught her needle crafts which she practiced throughout her life. She loved doing things and making things with her hands, whether it was painting figurines, making doll clothes to sell at Christmas time, oil painting pictures to hang in the house, crocheting an afghan for some ones baby, or hacki sacks for the grand kids, knitting a suit for herself to wear or socks for the youth in the ward who helped with yard work, or netting doilies to be given away as gifts. She was very grateful for all that people did for her, but hated to feel that she was in someones debt so she always tried to keep something on hand to give to people who did things for her. She liked to surprise them with a small gift. The vacuum cleaner salesman, the exterminator, the pharmacy delivery person, to name a few, were recipients of her handiwork. She was proceeded in death by her husband Wayne DansonWride, her four brothers, Carl, George, David, Howard, (Prior), her three sisters, Lydia McCauley, Gwen Wrathal, Hilda Agar, and many friends and acquaintances. She is survived by her two children Anna Marie Turley, (Thad) of Mesa AZ, Wayne P. Wride (JeNeal) of Salt Lake City, Seven Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren services will be held at the Payson 5th Ward Chapel 225 South 400 East, Payson Utah on Jan 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. The family would like you to share your memories of Helen at the church 9:30-10:45 a.m. Internment will be in the Payson City . |

Obituary: Our hearts are broken at the news of the tragic death of our fallen hero, Sergeant Cory Blake Wride, on 30, 2014. We will forever choose to remember a life quietly lived in service to family, friends, church, and community. Cory was born in the grandeur of San Juan , 28, 1969, in Monticello, Utah, the oldest child of D. Blake and Kathy Nielsen Wride. At age two, his family moved to American Fork where he would spend his growing-up years. As a child he had a quiet, kind nature, a quick wit, and a special love for animals. Cory never wanted the spotlight and always put the welfare of others above himself. The summers of Corys sophomore and junior year in high school were spent working on the Bagley Dairy/Beef Cattle Ranch in the beautiful Teton Valley in Victor, Idaho. He truly enjoyed learning about livestock, farming equipment, and the day-to-day operations of the ranch. It was here that Cory really learned and developed his strong work ethic that would serve him throughout the rest of his life. Cory was actively involved in FFA during high school and became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from American Fork High School in 1987. Cory enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard in 1988 and completed his Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and Intelligence Analyst School at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, where he was the Honor Graduate. He served honorably in the Utah National Guard for 12 years, achieving the rank of sergeant. Cory served an LDS mission in the New York, New York City Mission, faithfully serving the people of Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Queens, and on the Island of Bermuda. returning home, Cory entered the police academy where he graduated at the top of his class. His first law enforcement job was with the Department of Corrections working as a guard at the Utah State Prison. Cory accepted a position with the Utah Sheriffs Department in 1994 and served with professionalism, integrity, and compassion for 19 years until his untimely and tragic death. During his time with the Department, he achieved the rank of sergeant and served in numerous capacities including Patrol, K-9 Team, SWAT, and Internal Affairs. He married the love of his life, Nannette Williams, on 23, 1995. were later sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. For the past 18 years, they continued their love affair and raised four boys and one daughter on the Wride family farm in Benjamin. Cory enjoyed all sports and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing at Fish Lake, camping, horseback riding, hunting, and, most of all, chasing pheasants in South Dakota with family and friends and his German Shorthair, Clyde. Cory and his father had recently purchased five purebred Angus cows and a certified Red Balancer bull and revived the Running B brand that Corys great grandfather and grandfather carried on for decades. Cory will be remembered for his quiet strength, love of family, gift of teaching, and his testimony of Jesus Christ. His siblings will never forget the drink runs, playing on Grandpa Wrides farm, pioneer parades, rodeos, fishing and deer hunting trips, and the teasing—always done out of love. Corys quick wit, warm smile, and quiet offers of help will be sorely missed. Cory leaves behind his beautiful wife Nannette; sons Nathan (Jessica), Chance (Winter), Shea (Amie), and Tyesun; the apple of his eye, daughter KylieAnne; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his parents, D. Blake and Kathy Wride; brother Ryan (Jeanna) Wride; three sisters, Marci (Nathan) Taylor, Nicole (Johnny) Revill, and Anne (Colby) Curtis; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Edna Wride, and Ray and Joyce Nielsen. A visitation for family and friends will be held , 4, 2014, from 6 to 8 pm at the Spanish Fork West Stake , 650 West 400 North, Spanish Fork, Utah. services will be held , 5, 2014, at 11:00 am in the UCCU Event at Utah Valley University. The family would like to express their gratitude for the many caring acts of kindness and service that have been extended to them. We are comforted by the knowledge that the Plan of Salvation is real and that despite the misuse of agency, the Atonement of Jesus Christ will right every wrong.
