Veirl always joked that the above statement should be his obituary, but a little more needs to be said about Papa Bear.
Veirl D. Williams, age 85, passed away peacefully on 22, 2017 in Salt Lake City. He was born 14, 1931 in Jerome, Idaho to Samuel H. and Grace Williams. He moved to Salt Lake in 1946. Soon after graduating from East High School in 1949, he married Louise Papenfuss in the Salt Lake Temple. have been together for 68 years. Veirl was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Bishop. He owned and managed his own insurance agency for 40 years. He was a long-time member of the Sugar House Rotary Club.
Veirl loved fishing, boating, camping, and especially loved going to the family cabin at Bear Lake. He served many years as President of the Sweetwater Hillside Association. He spent his last weekend there with his wife.
Veirl is survived by his loving wife, Louise, children; Jerry (Ann), Michael (Deanna), Jeffrey (Marilyn), Debra (Doug), 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, sister Marjorie and brother Jedd (Elaine). Preceded in death by granddaughter Jami Barton.
Service will be 28, 2017, 11:00 am at Winder 5th Ward, 1361 E. 4000 S. Salt Lake City. Viewing 27, 6:00-8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service at the same location. Interment at Wasatch Lawn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Primary Children's Hospital.

Obituary: Todd Randall Williams, beloved father, son, and brother, passed away 17, 2014 in Orem, Utah. Todd was born 23, 1956 in Provo, Utah to Harold Orval Williams and Doremis Dee E Sumter. As he grew to a young man, he developed a love of basketball and tennis. He was a state champion tennis player and All-State basketball player for Orem High School. He attended Snow and then Utah Valley Community . On 12, 1977, he married Sheila Kae Beeson and had his first son, Brick. He later married Tammy Breese on 27, 1982. and their six children were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 27, 1996. Todd worked as a master mason, and later owned Subway stores in the Salt Lake area. During this time he also developed property that was owned by his grandfather, Roy Sumter, along the Provo River, now known as Country River Estates. Todd loved to fly fish, camp, hunt, and cook. He shared his passion for tennis, basketball, fishing, and music with his children. He loved dogs, and developed a special place in his heart for bull terriers, owning many ullies in his lifetime. Above all, he was proud of his seven children. He is survived by his mother, Doremis Sumter Williams, children Brick (Lisa) Williams, Jordan (Ronnie) Tanner, Taylor (Suzy) Williams, and Tanner, Dayle, Jensen, and Tucker Williams. He is also survived by his brother Brad Williams, and sisters Debra Greeff, Kristy Vest, and Shelby Killpack. His seven surviving grandchildren know him as Grandpa Todd, and he would have greatly enjoyed watching them and future grandchildren grow and experience life. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Grandpa Hal Williams. Todd cherished the joy that music brought to life. In the words of his favorite band, Dream Theater: Move on, be brave, Don weep at my grave, Because I am no longer here, But please never let, Your memory of me disappear. services will be held , 21, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Suncrest 5th Ward LDS Building located at 150 N. 400 W. Obituary: Dr. Tess Mern (Tad) Williams Three days before his sixtieth wedding anniversary, Tess Mern (Tad) Williams passed away on 20, 2009 in Orem, Utah. The son of Elmer Williams and Laurin Olsen Williams, he was born 23, 1924 in Declo, Idaho. He attended school in Inkom and Declo, Idaho and Lakeview, Oregon, where he graduated in 1942. In 1951 Tess earned a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering from Oregon State University, where he was affiliated with Theta Chi fraternity. He earned an MS degree in Technical Journalism from Iowa State University, the first university to have a program in television, in 1956. He earned his PhD in Communications from Michigan State University in 1971. He also completed a six-week course from the 1948 Radio Institute in Los Angeles, sponsored by the University of California and the National Broadcasting . He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 as a pilot trainee. Tess married Maxine Hoggan of Burley, Idaho on 23, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. had two children, Dorice and Alan Mern. Tess was a devoted husband and father who adored his family. He was known by family, friends, and associates as an exceptionally kind, compassionate, and caring man. He was a peacemaker and mediator, and also had a delightful sense of humor. Tess began his broadcasting career as an announcer for KBAR in Burley, Idaho. He was a film editor and program director at KMO-TV in Tacoma, Washington and at KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon. He then became affiliated with the Oregon State System of Higher Education and assisted with the development of educational television in the state. He joined the faculty of Brigham Young University in 1960 as an assistant professor and Director of Broadcast Services and was primarily responsible for the launch of KBYU-FM radio and KBYU television. In 1970 he joined the staff of the Utah State Board of Higher Education, serving as Coordinator of Statewide Television, including Telecommunications and Instructional Television, where he served for 17 years with distinction, impartiality, wisdom, and foresight, according to an official proclamation presented to him by the Board. He also received a Distinguished Service Award from KBYU-FM on 20, 1985, in recognition of his important contributions there. During his years at the Board of Regents, Tess also taught classes for the BYU-Salt Lake and became interested in career counseling, leading him to establish the Utah Education/ er telephone hotline which he coordinated with the Board of Regents. Following his retirement from the Board of Regents in 1987, Tess served as a consultant for the LDS Church in the Public Affairs, Communication, and Audio-Visual departments until 2004. Throughout his life, he served faithfully in LDS Church callings, including bishoprics, high councilor, High Priest group leader, and many others. He was called with his wife on missions to Temple Square and the Church Office Building, where he coordinated efforts for the Church to join the national interdenominational VISION cable TV network, as well as other major projects. He also worked diligently on a self-help computer project called the Triumphant Living Program. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Orem; children: Dorice Williams Elliott (Robert) of Lawrence, Kansas and Alan Mern Williams (Racquel) of Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three brothers. Tess was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother Grace Roylance Bush Williams, and four brothers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund. services will be held at 1:00 p.m. , 25, 2009, at the Suncrest 9th Ward Chapel, 130 North 400 West, Orem. Family and friends may call evening from 6-8 p.m at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem and from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at Orem City .
