Obituary: Richard (Dean) Wilkinson 1, 1935- 30, 2011 Dean Wilkinson died morning, 30, 2011, at his home in St. George UT. He was 75 years old. Richard (Dean) Wilkinson was born 1st, 1935 in Orem, UT at home. He was the son of Dick W. and Arlene Bernice (Backus) Wilkinson, and the brother of, Wanda, Dewey, and Jennie Lee. He grew up and received his education in Orem and Pleasant Grove, Utah, and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1953. He joined the Army in 1954 and trained in Ft. Lewis, WA as an Armorer. He was assigned to the 5th Infantry Division Recon Co. in Munich, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He then went to work for BLM in Alaska. He went to barber school in 1959, and-later into insurance sales. He then started his own agency in 1972. From his first marriage he had three boys, Rick (deceased), Kipp, and Brock Wilkinson. In 1983 he married the woman of his dreams, and gained a wonderful family and enjoyed a life of raising a daughter and sharing very special memories with his step children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved being the comic in the group, and lived to embarrass his daughter by doing things like: playing songs on his car horn and taking her to the McDonalds drive thru in his underwear. He was an avid fan of all sports, and enjoyed bowling and golfing with his friends. He was the best grandpa a child could ask for. He followed his grandkids all over watching their sporting activities and school programs. He was known as grandpa at ball games, in which he attended every chance he got, and was also known to be kicked out of the park for yelling at the officials. He loved watching all of the grandkids, dance, softball, and baseball games. He loved BYU and Jazz games, and was the apple of his mother’s eye. He was married to the love of his life and gave her an amazing life. were able to travel and build their dream home close to their friends in St. George. His friends, Terry Taylor and Garn Mecham have been the best friends a guy could ask for. Thanks to both of you for taking him to coffee, spending time with him, and being there when it really counted. You are both very special to him and he loved you! Survivors include; his wife of 26 years, Cecelia (Cec) Wilkinson of St. George; Two sisters, Jennie Lee (Leon) McNeil of Springville, Wanda Robbins of Manti; a total of seven children and step children, Rick(deceased), Kipp and Brock Wilkinson, Heidi (Ed) Chalk, Kerrie (Troy) Taylor both of Springville, Trent (Linda) Hoover, of Mapleton, Daryn ( Melanie ) Hoover of Payson; sister in-law, Dona (Jerry) Bawden, of Sandy, brother in-law, Terry (Janice) Pritchett, of Sp. Fork; 18 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was excited to be able to meet his newest great grandchild, Jax, son of Kiley Wilkinson and Josh Bruening. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, son, brother, brother in-law, and niece. services will be held , 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem. Friends and family may call on 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem and also that morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City . |
