Obituary: Our wonderful wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Susanne (Sue) Wilkey, passed away peacefully in her sleep 22, 2011 in Pleasant Grove. years of struggling with serious physical and mental illnesses, she is finally well and at peace. Sue was born on 8, 1939 in Gary, Indiana, to Carl and Helen Rooney. graduating from Provo High, she began nursing school but changed her plans when she married the love of her life, Ladd Wilkey, on May 22, 1959; later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Together they created a loving home where they raised their three children. Sue was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully as her health permitted. She enjoyed volunteering as a Pink Lady at the hospital, in the PTA, in the Primary, and as a visiting teacher. Despite the struggles she faced, she always had a kind word and warm smile for everyone. She loved everyone she met, and she was loved in return by everyone who met her. We were blessed to have her with us as long as we did, and we will miss her very much. Survived by her eternal sweetheart, Ladd; stepmother, Phyllis Rooney; children Dave (Lynn) Wilkey, Merianne (Brett) Marble, Eric (Lisa) Wilkey; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Jim (Janice) Rooney and Pat (Debby) Rooney. Preceded in death by her parents. Many people helped Sue throughout her life, but none more so than her loving husband, Ladd, who sacrificed much in their 51 years together as he supported her through her trials. We want to give special thanks to Dr. Bernard Grosser, who helped her through many difficult times. We also want to thank all those who tenderly cared for Mom during her final years: her wonderful friends and neighbors, Kristin and Carson Richins, Jackie and Isaku Tateishi, caregivers from Aspen Senior , and the Niswander family at Lakeview Elderly . We are forever grateful for your compassion and love. services will be held , 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bonneville 13th Ward chapel, 1498 East 800 South, Provo. Obituary: Ladd Wilkey May 6, 1937 - 21, 2012 Ladd Wilkey, our loving dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend passed away 21, 2012, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, after a 20-year battle with Parkinsons disease. Ladd was born May 6, 1937, in Nephi, Utah to Harry and Nellie Wilkey. He loved cars and planes, his yard, and anything mechanical, but more than anything, he loved his sweetheart, Sue. were married in 1959 and created a loving home for their three children. He was a machinist by trade and had a gift for designing and making tools and machines. He had a brain that loved to solve problems and he believed that no matter how well something worked, he could improve on it. He worked at Geneva for many years and after his retirement from Geneva, he worked at Rocky Mountain Composites. Ladd believed that life was what you made of it, and he faced his challenges with an optimistic attitude. He devoted his life to caring for Sue, who had serious health problems, helping his widowed mother, and raising his children. But he also found time to fit in activities he enjoyed--golfing, gardening, remodeling and renovating his home. He also was a passionate BYU sports fan and loved spending time with his family. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ladd served faithfully in whatever he was asked to do, but he especially enjoyed serving as a home teacher. He was a great example of compassion, endurance, and faith, and he taught us so much about how to truly care for others. He was large in stature and had a spirit to match. Survived by his mother-in-law, Phyllis Rooney; children Dave (Lynn) Wilkey, Merianne (Brett) Marble, Eric (Lisa) Wilkey; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Renee (Barclay) Gardner. Preceded in death by his parents and his eternal sweetheart, Sue. As Parkinsons disease slowly robbed Dad of his health, he was supported by a network of family and friends who helped him retain as much independence as possible. We want to thank all those who lovingly cared for Dad during his final years: his wonderful friends and neighbors; Kristin and Carson Richins; Jackie and Isaku Tateishi; caregivers from several organizations; and the Niswander family and staff at Lakeview Elderly , especially Sharon, who lovingly cared for Dad.
