Obituary: Rachel McOmber Wignall 1925 ~ 2011 Rachel Ann Baird McOmber Wignall passed away on , 21, 2011 at her home in Provo at the age of 85. Rachel was the daughter of Abner and Hazel Twede Baird and spent her childhood on the family farm on West Mountain near Payson, Utah. She attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she met and married her husband, David McOmber. She graduated from USU in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education which became her passion throughout her life. She taught in Cache, Logan and Murray School districts and then developed and operated a highly successful pre-school in Provo for 20 years. Her crowning legacy was the production of McOmber Beginning Reading Books. She was also instrumental in setting up Literacy s primarily throughout Utah , helping many struggling children and adults to become successful readers. She was the recipient of the Smoot Outstanding Citizen award for her work with Family Literacy. She taught at BYU Academy for Girls, and loved serving at the MTC and as a Provo Temple Worker. Rachel’s beloved husband, David passed away in 2003 after 55 wonderful years together. In 2008 she married Bill Wignall who was an invaluable support and companion during her final years. She inspired many with her positive attitude and love of people. She has 28 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Bill and her six children: Val (Kenna) McOmber, Marilyn (Joel) Skousen, Julee (Don) Skinner, Mark (Cathy) McOmber, Becky (Jed) Miner and Paul (Kimille) McOmber; her brother Fred (Sara) Baird, her sister Ruth (Mark) Bartholomew. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Alan Baird. Services will be held , 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edgemont Stake , 303 West 3700 North, Provo. Friends and family may call on , 24, 2011, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem, and again morning at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Orem City . |

Obituary: Norma Lewis Wightman 1920 ~ 2013 Norma Lewis Wightman died of cancer complications 11, 2013, surrounded by her daughters at her home in Provo, Utah. She was born on 21, 1920, to Wilbert Clayton and Florence Rosetta Johnson Lewis in Kaysville, Utah. She spent her young years in Eureka, Provo and Spanish Fork, Utah and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. On 16, 1940 she married Grant Fuller Wightman and they spent their entire married lives in Provo, Utah, where they raised their family. Norma was a wonderful, conscientious, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She used her top-notch homemaking skills in preparing delicious meals, gardening, canning, making homemade bread, sewing nearly everything her children wore, making fabulous homemade candy at Christmas and creating scores of quilts for all members of her family. Indeed, she created a house of thrift, order, love and cleanliness. During the 1960s she served as the Utah Secretary of the Democratic Party. During that time, she was appointed by Governor Rampton to the Governors Commission for the Blind. She was very active in the local Geneva Steelworkers Union Auxillary supporting her husband. She also worked as a supervisor during the taking of the 1980 Census. Norma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served over the years as a Primary Teacher, a Cub Scout Leader and a Relief Society Quilt Chairman. She loved and appreciated her long-time visiting teachers Rose and Betty. She had many opportunities to travel during her lifetime and enjoyed it immensely. She and her husband Grant traveled throughout the western states and Hawaii to visit children and extended family members. also visited several of the great cities of Eastern USA on Union business. Later they traveled to Nairobi, Kenya, Athens, Rome and London. her husband passed away she traveled with her children to Australia and New Zealand, Albuquerque, New Mexico and then to the Boston area. Norma had a beautiful singing voice and knew by heart dozens of songs that she loved to sing with her sister, Glowie. She taught a lot of those songs to her children. She was also a professional hand-quilting artist and many of her works of quilting art are on display throughout Utah. She was a generous neighbor and a great example and helpful friend to many of the young women who were friends of her daughters. Norma is survived by her children: Linda Fleming (Cliff), Carolyn Jensen, and Maureen Keitz. She has 15 grandchildren: Sydney Ann Wells Meirzwiak (Brent), Allison Fleming Yearout (Kelley), Erin Fleming, Anne Fleming, Matthew Fleming (Rachelle), Stephen Fleming (Lee), Michael Fleming, Levi Keitz (Nichol), Kelly Keitz Englehart (Tim), Abby Keitz Cowan (Nate), Jessica Wightman Rockne (Jon), Courtnee Justice, Stacy Ulrich (Chris), Ryan Miller (Codi) and Danielle Miller and 28 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Glowie Lewis Levanger of Payson. She was preceded in death by her husband Grant Fuller Wightman, her infant son Dana Grant Wightman, her son Clarke Lewis Wightman, and her grandson Brady Lewis Wightman. Her parents and her brothers, James, Carlyle, Wayne, Leo, Theo, and Dale Lewis also preceded her in death. services will be held at the Walker Sanderson Tribute , 85 East 300 South, Provo, Utah, on , 15th at 11 am with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 preceding the funeral. An earlier viewing will also be held at the mortuary on evening from 6-8 pm. Any contributions should be directed to the National Federation of the Blind. Obituary: Brady Lewis Wightman Brady Lewis Wightman, 19, passed away peacefully 7, 2007. He was born 3, 1988 in Payson, Utah, to Clarke L. and Marianne Howard Wightman. Brady loved the mountains, hiking, and his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed baseball, skateboarding, and music, and making everyone laugh was his greatest joy. Brady taught himself to play the piano and the guitar and was a talented artist. He is survived by his Mother, Marianne, his siblings, Jessica (Jon) Rockne, Staci (Chris) Ulrich, Ryan (Codi) Miller, Danielle (Chris) Ward, 5 nieces and nephews, Hannah Mitchley, Banner Ward, Trevor Ward, Brinna Ward, Emry Miller.
