Obituary: Joan Haws Walker Ruia Joan Walker, 75, passed away peacefully in her home on , May 20, 2010, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Joan was born 24, 1934, in Springville, Utah, to Guy Murice Haws and Ruia Steele Haws. She was the youngest of four children (sister Colleen Cook and brothers Kent and Paul Haws). Joan spent many happy years growing up in Provo where she attended Maeser Elementary and Farrer Jr. High before graduating from Provo High and LDS Seminary. Joan married Donell Walker on 11, 1953 in the Manti Utah Temple after knowing each other since elementary school. just two years of marriage, the couple moved to their home in Orem where they lived together for 55 years and were blessed with four wonderful children, Keith (Carol) Walker, Susan (Terry) McDaniel, Lori (Steve) Lowe, and Kasey (Jenni) Walker, 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grand children. In addition to working with the rest of her family in the grocery business, Joan worked at Newcastle Financial Corporation for seven years and in the business office of Brigham Young University for 10 years before she retired in 1998. Joans faith was very important to her. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served faithfully in the primary, relief society, and young womens organizations. She also recently served a two-year church service mission with her husband at the MTC in Provo. Joan loved to work outside in her yard and to spend time visiting with her beloved neighbors and friends. She enjoyed writing poetry, refinishing antique furniture, and she took great satisfaction in completing the newspaper crossword puzzle each night. Her greatest joy, however, was her family and she loved having all 60 of them come to her home for Thanksgiving dinners and many other special occasions. The Hallmark of her life is her never-ending service and the quiet sacrifices she made daily to ensure the happiness and well-being of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all of us. She is survived by her husband, Donell and all of her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and their spouses as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Ruia Haws and her three siblings, Colleen, Kent, and Paul. services will be held , May 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Timpanogos Park Sixth Ward Chapel, 955 North 300 East, Orem. A viewing will be held on evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem and morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Orem City . |

Obituary: Robert Eugene Walker Robert E. (Bob) Walker passed away 28, 2007, after a two-month respiratory illness. The sixth child of Lawrence and Dahlia Walker of Lindon, Utah, Bob was born 15, 1924. His siblings include: Grace (Fae) Fielding; Jennie (Elroy) Murdoch; Grant (Mary & Elma) Walker; Leon (Zeona) Walker; Lorayn (Aaron) Stoddard; Garth (Mary Gae) Walker and Utahna Ballard. At age 19 he served his country with the Merchant Marines during WWII. Upon his return, he served an LDS mission in the New England states. On 18, 1950 he married Joyce Barton in the Manti Temple. Together they had 6 children: Eugene, Dory, Kaye Lynn, Patti, Mark, and Steven. Bob devoted his life to serving others. An educator by profession, he first taught in Provo and then was a teacher and principal for 32 years in Glendora, California. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Bob served as a Bishop and Stake President and in many other leadership positions. He and Joyce served a mission for the NY, NY Mission in Bermuda in 1985. Bob and Joyce have lived in Utah since 1992, where he served in the Provo and Timpanogas temples for the past 13 years. Bob fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith and has endured to the end. We will miss him. services will be held at 2 p.m. , 3, 2007, in the Orem North Stake 1000 North Main Street, Orem. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 12:30 until 1:40 p.m. Family and friends may also call on evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem. Interment will be held in the Pleasant Grove City .A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. , 10, 2007, in the Glendora Stake . |

Obituary: Reed H. Walker 1924 - 2013 Reed Holt Walker, 88, of Lindon, Utah, passed away , 19, 2013, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Reed was born 25, 1924, in Lindon, Utah, the seventh child of 15 children born to Leonard S. Walker and Edith Stagg Walker. Reed learned the value of hard work as a young boy while working alongside his brothers and sisters on his fathers farm. It was there that he developed a love for horses and started riding at the age of 4. Reed always told his grandchildren that the H in his name stood for horse. This love continued throughout his life. Reed graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1942. Soon afterward, he joined the Merchant Marines and was on tour of duty in the South Pacific, New Guinea and in Fiji. Following his military service, he began his career at Utah Power and Light. He worked for UP&L for 40 years and made many life-long friends. He retired in 1985. Reed married Marilyn Warnick 30, 1945 (later divorced). were the parents of 4 children: Suzanne (David) Mangel, Colleen (Richard) Varney, Lance (Candace), Craig (Brenda). Reed was introduced to Mable Oldroyd Blackham by his sister, Gayle Blackham. It was love at first sight. Reed and Mable were married 7, 1969. When Reed married Mable, he also became the Dad to Mables two daughters, Nedra Abegglen, and Anna Jean (Roger) Christensen. Reed loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many positions, including the Boy Scouts; his favorite calling being that of Teacher. He also served his community and was a member of the Strawberry Days Rodeo Committee for many years. He loved his home town of Lindon and spent countless hours riding his horse in the foothills and on Mt. Timpanogos. Reed and Mable built their dream home in their beloved Lindon. Reed was a hard-working farmer at heart and always had an immaculate yard. He took such pride in his wonderful garden, competing with his neighbors as to whose peas would come up first. He loved sharing the fruits of his labors with many others. Reed was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Spending time with Grandpa Reed was always a special time for his grandchildren. loved riding horses with him and hearing his all tales. He would tease them and laugh until the tears would roll down his cheeks. Reed is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 7 sisters. Survived by his wife, Mable; sisters, Edith Jean (Nyle) Harris, Judy (Doyle) Pyne; brothers, Boyd (Barbara), Royce (Joyce); 6 children, 29 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He loved them all. The family would like to express a special hank you for the wonderful, compassionate service given by Park Place of Pleasant Grove and by Haven Hospice. A special thank you goes to friends and neighbors. Without their loving kindness, things would have been much more difficult. services will be held , 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lindon 19th L.D.S.
