Obituary: On May 2, 2016, Miram Joy Brown Wood, after 84 years, shed this mortal coil. She passed on peacefully leaving three daughters, one son, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and her youngest sister. , along with countless others, were touched by her strong will, feisty spirit, and the continual practice of living up to her name: Joy. Joy was born on 23, 1932 near the small West Texas town of Silverton. Growing up there with her sisters, she attended a one-room school, and in the absence of sons, the girls helped on the farm. By high school, she was attending school in town where she met and fell in love with the captain of the football team, Clayton Wood. In 1950, she and Clayton were married. the birth of their first daughter, Jan, they moved to Dell City, Texas, a small town at the foot of the Guadalupe Mountains. There Clayton ran a barbershop and Joy worked for a local company doing bookkeeping. During this time, they carefully saved up to buy some farmland, and after the birth of their son John, built a house of their own. That house saw the birth of their third and fourth children, both daughters, Tracy and Kelli, and a transition in work to fulltime farming. With hard work and a solid partnership, Joy and Clayton farmed in Dell City for over 40 years. Both were always active in the church, touched uncountable lives, and were always known for their good humor, dependability, and strong faith. In 1998, they retired from faming and moved to the East Texas town of Kilgore to live with their son John and daughter-in-law Teresa. In Kilgore, they continued their participation in the church, and enjoyed the convenience of city life, as well as spending time with grandchildren who had been so far away for quite some time. In 2007, after 57 joyful years of marriage, Clayton died from complications of diabetes. To all who knew them, their marriage will always serve as an example of deep abiding love built on a foundation of faith, laughter, and friendship. Years later, Joy joined the Ghana Mission team and went to West Africa in service of the church. The experience there only strengthened her dedication to her faith and from that time on, she held the people of Ghana deeply in her heart. Joy always weathered tough times with a sense of calm, hope, happiness, and a strong spirit. This world is certainly a better place for her life in it, and we all are better for her being a part of our lives. She will be greatly missed but carried on in the spirit of each person she touched. No doubt, she would want us to continue knowing that, as she often said, life is good. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Clayton at a private graveside service in Silverton, Texas. Obituary: Joellen Koepnick Wood, age 60, On 29th, 2013, Joellen Koepnick Wood of Carrollton, Texas passed away following a 13-year, hard-fought battle with cancer. Joellen was born on 2nd, 1953 to Joseph and Patricia Koepnick in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Carroll High School in Dayton graduating in 1971 and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In the late 90s, she began utilizing her gift as a computer science teacher in Chattanooga at The Girls Preparatory School. relocating to Dallas, Joellen continued her teaching career at the Episcopal School of Dallas. Joellen is survived by her husband, Tom Wood, her son, Greg Wood, her daughter, Elizabeth Wood, and her mother, Patricia Heimbuecher, all of whom were by her side when she passed. Memorial Service is scheduled for , 19th at 11 a.m. at the chapel of the Chattanooga North, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN.
