She was married to Bernard Wittmeyer for 21 years. Kathleen had a career in bookkeeping for several different companies in the Chicago and Houston areas. She enjoyed sewing and needlepoint and was an avid reader of novels. She was preceded in death by her father William, mother Bernadine, brother William, and husband Bernard. Obituary: WITTMAYER Margaret Lyle Wittmayer, age 76, of San Antonio, died , 31, 2001. Born in Drumright, Oklahoma to Raymond and Edith Flood on 5, 1925. Her father died when Margaret was only 2 years of age leaving her two brothers and mother struggling through the depression, but overcoming the adversity. She married Jay Eubanks in 1942. moved to Honolulu Hawaii in 1952 where they were pioneers in the travel business. Following the death of Mr. Eubanks, she later married Col. James Thetford and lived in Hawaii until his death. She then moved to San Antonio, TX to be closer to her family. She moved into the Army Residence Community and developed close friendship with other residents. It is there she met Col. Raymond C. Wittmayer who was recently widowed. fell in love and married in 1991 and enjoyed 10 years of married life. She will be dearly missed by friends and family. She was preceded in death by Jay Eubanks and James Thetford. She is survived by her husband, Col. Raymond C. Obituary: Rebecca Lillian Wittliff of Austwell, Texas, died , 30, 2015 after a long, brave struggle with cancer. Born in Victoria, Texas on 28, 1951 to the late Herbert and Edna (Huebner) Wittliff, she was the youngest of 4 children in the Wittliff family. Rebecca attended schools in Austwell and Tivoli, TX. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1970. As a graduate of Incarnate Word in 1974, she was a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society and received her Bachelors degree in Economics along with her Teacher Certificate. Rebecca taught home economic classes in the Calhoun ISD and Shiner ISD. She served as a sponsor of the yearbook and marveled at the amount of time required to produce it. She was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Music was one of her many interests. The Beatles came to Houston in 1964 and she attended their concert. Their singing was one of her fond memories of the 60s. Ceramics, cooking (she won 2 Grand Championships for her talents in the Refugio Fair), embroidery and sewing were some of her many interest. Genealogy was one of her passions in life and she spent many an hour pursuing clues found in old records at courthouses, churches and cemeteries. As a family, we will always be indebted to her for her knowledge and dedication. Her sister, Phyllis, went along with her on their many trips to locate information and leave flowers on family graves. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Herbert Herb Randolph Wittliff. Rebecca is survived by her two sisters; Paulette (Wittliff) and James D. Icard and Phyllis (Wittliff) Whiteaker; as well as four nephews, David Icard, Sean Icard, James Whiteaker IV and Miles Whiteaker; and three nieces, Molly (Icard) Williams, Amanda (Whiteaker) Craig and Amber (Whiteaker) Copeland. There are also numerous grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held , 4, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial in Port Lavaca with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass will be , 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Tivoli. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic in Yorktown. Pallbearers are Kody Smajstrla, Klint Smajstrla, Carl Anderson, Craig Leita, Richard Williams, Doug Wolfshohl and Dr. Antonio Aguirre. Honorary Pallbearers are John Smajstrla, Ernest Torres, Bryan Serold, Darrin Kelso and Wayne Myers. Rebecca gives special thanks to her siblings. Her friends were so helpful and she is very grateful for their kindness and friendship. Obituary: Herbert Herb Randolph Wittliff, 65, of Port Lavaca, died , 26, 2015, just weeks after being diagnosed with two aggressive cancers. Born on 20, 1950 in Corpus Christi to the late Herbert A.R. Wittliff and Edna Annie Huebner Wittliff, Herbert was a loving and kind son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church where he was a lector, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a choir member and taught catechism. He especially enjoyed a trip to the Holy Land with fellow parishioners. He was honored to have received communion from Pope John Paul II during his San Antonio visit. Herbert grew up on the family farm near Austwell, Texas and attended schools in Austwell and Tivoli. Graduating from Texas A&M University in 1972, with a degree in agricultural engineering, Herbert was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. In 1986 he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Captain. He began his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Port Arthur. While stationed in Port Arthur, Herbert rescued three men from drowning in a canal following a car accident. For this heroic act, Herbert received the American Legion Award. Recently Herbert was recognized for his 35 years as manager of the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA), Port Lavaca Division. The GBRA Family was important to Herbert and he loved them as well as his work. The mechanics of things always interested Herbert and he loved taking apart motors, machinery, and even tractors and old cars and refurbishing them. He was involved in numerous community organizations. Especially important to Herbert was the United Way Appeal serving as President, Secretary and other positions. He supported youth in the Calhoun Fair and in judging science fairs. He also served on the Coastal Marine Advisory Committee and Calhoun LEPC. Many agricultural events interested him such as field tours and farm shows. Herbert is survived by his sisters, Paulette Wittliff Icard (James D.) of North Carolina, Phyllis Wittliff Whiteaker of San Antonio, and Rebecca Wittliff of Austwell, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held , 30, 2015 at 6 PM, followed by a eulogy and a rosary at 7 PM led by Deacon Thomas Tucker, Aggie classmate, at Richardson-Colonial in Port Lavaca. Mass will be at 10 AM on , 1, 2015 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca with Reverend Tommy Chen officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM with military honors at the family plot in Holy Cross Catholic in Yorktown. Deacon Tucker will officiate. Pallbearers are Clifford Giese, Dr. Dan Gamblin, Paul Guzman, Darrin Kelso, Joe Canales, Mike Shell, and the Women and Men of GBRA. Honorary Pallbearers are Deacon Thomas Tucker, John Smajstrla, Bryan Serold, and Fred Blumberg. Memorials may be made to United Way, Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, or Calhoun Fair Youth Builders Program. |
