Obituary: Betsy O. Wisdom, age 87, of Florence, New Jersey, passed away from kidney failure on , 29, 2014 in Aria Bucks Regioal Hospital in Pennsylvania. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on , 17, 2014 at Cook-Walden Davis in Georgetown Texas. services will be held at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Cook-Walden Davis with Donna Mayfield as Celebrant. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. in Georgetown, Texas. Mrs. Wisdom was born on 24, 1927 in Silsbee, Texas to Albertine and Judd Oldham. She had one sister, Doris Coville, who is deceased. She attended Silsbee High School where she was elected the Football Queen her senior year. graduating, she attended the Univeristy of Texas in Austin, Texas where she met and married her husband of 61 years, Charles I. Wisdom on 13, 1948. A busy homemaker with three children, she was active in many local communities (she moved 31+ times with her husband) doing volunteer work, book clubs and bridge. While living in Enchanted Oaks, Texas she published a highly regarded humorous poem on the Night before Christmas. the death of her husband, she moved to he Sterling House in Florence, New Jersey for the last four years of her life. She often remarked on the wonderful care she received from the staff there. She was much loved by all who knew her and was much appreciated for her keen sense of humor and enjoyment of life and of those around her. She is survived by her three children, Janet McGinnis, Larry Wisdom and Ross Wisdom; two loving daughters-in-law, Micki and Susan Wisdom; her son-in-law, Tom McGinnis; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lisa, Jason and Michael; and one great grandchild, Lena. Obituary: Jon Esau Wisda (1930-2014) Jon Esau Wisda passed away at home on 28, 2014. Jon was born in Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras in 1930. He grew up in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Florida State University. In 1953, he finished OCS and entered the Navy as an Ensign. Jon met and married Barbara Lee Wallace. Their companionship lasted 61 years. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Emma Wisda and his sister, Gertrude. He is survived by sisters Adele Anding of Houston, and Anne Alsobrook of Guntersville, Alabama; daughter Gigi Juran and husband Kenneth of Houston, sons Michael and wife Lynn of Houston, Craig and wife Deborah of Glendale, CA and Jon and wife Theresa of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Tracy, Kendra, Daniel, Ruth, Joshua, Emilee, Jacob, and Sarah; great grandchildren Aedan, David, and John. Jon spent most of his career as a Geophysicist and Manager of Getty Oil . He and Barbara lived in several states and many foreign countries. retired to Sound, Montgomery in 2000. Jon enjoyed playing golf there with the Seventy-Niners. Over a lifetime, he collected 5 hole-in-ones. He was very active in the Sound Church where he and Barbara made many close friends. A celebration of Jons life will be held on , 6 at 2pm at the Sound Church, officiated by Rev. Dowen Johnson. Obituary: Glenn Roy Wischnewsky, age 62, passed away , 11, 2015. Born in Houston, Texas, he was an Aerospace Engineer, who had served his country honorably with the Army during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Martin Wischnewsky and mother, Mary Louise Wischnewsky. Survived by son, Benjamin Matthew Wischnewsky; daughter, Keri Anne Aburub and husband Carlos; grandsons, Elijah and Aiden Aburub; brothers, Wayne Wischnewsky and wife Sydney, Clifford Wischnewsky and wife Cindy, and Kenneth Wischnewsky and wife Jennifer; sisters, Mary Redman and husband Mike, Sharon Schide and husband Elliott, and Faye Juricek and husband Darel; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother by her children Karen Murphy, Susan Rooke & husband Bob, Cathy Newman, Teri Wischmeyer, Betsy Munse & husband Scott, Chip Wischmeyer and partner Cheri Henderson, Mark Wischmeyer and wife Monica, and Gina Totah and husband Bill, and by her 20 grandchildren and her 22 great-grandchildren. Rita was born on 2, 1921 in Boston, MA to Edwin Patrick and Katherine Ellen Williams Murphy. She attended Emmanuel in Boston where she learned to fly. Rita served in WWII as a Womens Airforce Service Pilot. She was a devout Catholic who often attended Mass daily. Rita was active in weekly volunteer work at the Catholic Ladies of Charity Thrift Store for decades. She was preceded in death by Henry G. Wischmeyer, her husband of 54 years. Obituary: Irene Stimson Wischer, of San Antonio, Texas died , 23, 2007 at the age of 91. She was born 25, 1915 in Page, Nebraska to the late Claude Henry and Christine Helen Siem Stimson. moving to Texas from Nebraska, Irene graduated from Harlandale High School in 1933. She attended business school at DraughonÂs Business before acquiring a job as an assistant corporate secretary for the Henderson Trust , an independent oil and gas company in San Antonio, in the late 1940Âs. Working her way to the top of the company, she became a director and secretary/treasurer of the firm in 1955. In 1963, she was elected President and CEO of Panhandle Producing Co., a firm with diversified interests in several oil and pipeline companies. This was no small feat for a woman in these early years when only men were involved in the oil and gas industry. Throughout her successful career, Irene has spent much of her time involved not only with oil and gas related organizations, but with politics and community affairs, as well. Honored for her hard work, dedication, and charitable contributions, she was an entrepreneur who courageously paved the way for women in the corporate and civic board rooms of our community. IreneÂs professional affiliations included: Member of IPAA Natural Gas committee, Member of TIPRO Executive Committee, Board of Directors of Gas Research Institute, First president of The Desk and Derrick Club of San Antonio, President of the National Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs, Member of National Petroleum Council, and Past Chairman of Independent Petroleum Association of America. She was very active in the political area which include: Former State President of the Texas Federation of Republican Women 1963 Â- 65, Considered for the post of U.S. Treasurer in 1974 under President Nixon, Chosen by President Ronald Reagan for the position of Deputy Secretary of Energy in 1983, Appointed by President Ford to serve on the Citizens Advisory Council on the Status of Women, Member of The Women for Bush Committee, and Member of State Republican Executive Committee. The community was very fortunate to have IreneÂs involvement. In addition to her professional and political attributes, IreneÂs community involvement included: Board of Trustees for Trinity University, Board of Directors of Southwest Research Institute, Board of Governors of the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research, Board of Directors of the San Antonio Medical Foundation, Development Board of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Development Board for the University of Texas Science , San Antonio/Air Force Community Council, Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, World Affairs Council of San Antonio, Board of the Institute of Texan Cultures, Member of YMCA Board of Governors, American Cancer Society Â- Past Chairman, Bexar Board, Glen Burnie Museum Foundation of Virginia Â- Chairman of the Board, Board of KLRN Public Television, and Member and past Chairman of the Administrative Board of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church. Irene received many honors throughout her career which included: Named one of ten outstanding Republican Women in Texas, 1983 Â- Outstanding San Antonio Citizen of the Year Â- Boy Scouts of America, 1984 - Named to Hall of Fame, San Antonio, 1986 Â- Attended White House briefing with President Reagan as one of 85 top women entrepreneurs in America, 1987 - Named Corporate Honoree ÂWomen in Corporations Who Make a Difference by International WomenÂs Forum, 1988 - Honored as Outstanding Citizen, National Conference of Christians and Jews, 1989 Â- San Antonio Area Council of Girl Scouts Trefoil Award Recipient, 1992 - First Woman to be named Chief Roughneck of the Year, sponsored by Lone Star Steel, 1993 - Recognized as Distinguished Woman Honoree, Northwood University, 1993 - Chosen as a Laureate for the Junior Achievement of South Texas, Inc., 1994 Â- Named San AntonioÂs Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year, 2005 - Honored by Glen Burnie Foundation with a plaque placed in the Shenandoah Valley Museum naming Mrs. Wischer as instrumental in the building of the museum, Listed in WhoÂs Who in Government U.S.A., Featured in Texas Women Â- A Celebration in History 1841-1981, Featured as one of the Ten Outstanding Business Women in Texas in Texas Business Magazine, and Featured in book Texas Women by Beverly Bentley and Patricia Lasher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl H. Wischer; brother and sister-in-law, Blaine N. Stimson and Mollie E. Stimson, and sister, Maxine E. Gittinger. Irene is survived by her step-daughter, Susie Holton and husband, Lad; step-son, Steve Wischer; grandchildren, Diana Raulston and husband, Doak; Amy Fields and husband, Arthur; Bryan Wischer and wife, Jeanne; nephews, Edwin Stimson and wife, Gwen; Claude Gittinger and wife, Sholeh; niece, Patricia Docekal and husband, Kenneth; several great grandchildren, great nieces, and great nephews. |
