Obituary: Mr. Gary Tyson "Ty" Willis, age 45, of Nacogdoches departed from life on , 3, 2013, at 5:35 a.m. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Buckner Willis; parents, Gary and Nancy Willis; his birth mother, Marjorie Brogdon Hess; two brothers, Caton Orrell and Hannan Orrell; two sisters, Leasha Bowden and Amy Willis Stidham; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gary was born 8, 1967, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, the natural child of Marjorie Brogdon and Wade Perryman. He was adopted by Gary and Nancy Willis of Houston on 11, 1967. With his new father also named Gary, the family chose to call the younger Gary the nickname "Ty," rather than use the word "junior." Ty endured several serious illnesses during his life, beginning at a very young age. Following his high school graduation, Ty attended college, including receiving a degree at Angelina . He had worked several years in the area as a computer programer and a hospital radiology technician. Requiem Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. , 7, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 2508 Appleby Sand Road in Nacogdoches, with Monsignor James E. Young officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove , located on Lanana Street in Nacogdoches. Pallbearers: Hannan Orrell, Caton Orrell, Wayne Hill, Daniel Johns, Edward Ironsmith, and Joe Biershenk. Honorary pallbearer will be John Doughty. Visitation will be held , 6, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for something durable that will last for years. The family wishes to see the church have a set of black vestments and a set of rose vestments. |

Obituary: Frank Ray Willis was born 2, 1933 and passed away on 8, 2010. His parents, James and Jessie Willis, both preceded him in death along with his siblings, Mavis Willis, James Willis and Kenneth Willis. Frank worked in his younger days as a roughneck. His ethic was once summed up by a great man, Both tears and sweat are salty, but they render a different result, tears will get you sympathy, sweat will get you change. He lived by this creed. Frank served in the Armed Forces (Army), worked for Bordens and eventually retired from TDC in Huntsville, Texas. Frank had a lifelong love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He shared with his sons his belief that life loves to be taken by the lapel and told, Im with you kid, lets go. Frank leaves his memories with his loving and devoted wife, Bennie Jean Willis, and his three sons, Mike Willis and wife Gayle, Ben Willis and wife Shelly and Terry Willis. He is also survived by his siblings, Charles Willis, Joe Willis and wife Betty, Billie Jean and husband John Hughes, Archie Willis and wife Carlene. Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as a host of friends and relatives mourn his passing as well. Services will be held at Cashner in Conroe, Texas at 3:00 p.m. on , 14, 2010. Obituary: Dr. Frances Cornell Willis, 97, passed away , 8, 2015 at her home in Denison. She is a native Denisonian and a graduate of Denison Schools. When she was in Peabody Elementary, she was the only student who was in four U.I.L. contests from the 4th through the 7th grades. were Spelling, Music Memory, Art Memory and Arithmetic. At graduation, she ranked No. 1 in her class and gave a short speech. At DHS, she was in U.I.L. Spelling in the 8th grade and Extemporaneous Speaking in the 11th grade. She was vice president of the Jr. Class, pianist for the Girls Glee Club during the junior and senior years, president of Girl Reserves her senior year, secretary for the state Hi-Y Club meeting that met in Denison, was Neewollah queen and received the Girl Reserve Cup for Complete Girlhood at graduation. She ranked 4th in a class of 144 and her after-school job was being pianist for Dorothy Leggs dancing classes. At Southeastern State University, she was on the debate team during her sophomore year, elected secretary for the Student Council her junior and senior years, president of Cardinal Key and student director of Southeasterns Banquet Hall in her senior year. When she received her B.S. degree, she was awarded a scholarship for a years graduate study at Oklahoma University. the years graduate study at O. U., she started her teaching career at Caddo, Oklahoma in 1940, teaching high school math. Since married women were not allowed to be a regular teacher, Mary Frances Wilson at D.H.S., was getting married and B. McDaniel called Frances to come to Denison to teach. As she was making $95 a month for nine months, Denison offered $125 a month for nine months, she had to give the school board two weeks notice and she started teaching at D.H.S. on 2, 1942. She taught English that semester and started teaching five classes of geometry in the fall of 1942, as she was a math, home economic major in college. Then in , Elizabeth Geer resigned and Frances was assigned five home economic classes. The war was going on and she was getting married in Pueblo, Colorado in 1944. Before she left for Colorado, B. McDaniel made sure that she took care of refreshments for the alumni meeting, which always followed night after graduation on night. When her husband, B. A. Willis, was discharged in 1944, married women could teach, so B. McDaniel said she could have her job back. left Colorado 30, 1944, came to Denison and she started teaching when school opened in . While teaching at D.H.S., she was Girl Reserve Sponsor 12 years and designed the triangle within the lighted circle for the auditorium; Junior Class sponsor for two years where she had charge of decorations, music, refreshments and the male sponsor collected the money; Student Council sponsor two years; F.H.A. sponsor 28 years and Senior Class sponsor 25 years. When she and Charles were head Senior Class sponsors, they planned and had the first Sr. Day at Loy Lake in1970 instead of going to Lake Murray. Then in 1971, Corky Bowling and Frances planned the first outdoor graduation at Munson Stadium, a tradition still observed today. Mr. Bob Monroe, Director of Maintenance, built the stage and backdrop which is used currently. teaching 33 years in the classroom, she became Vocational Counselor for three years and then became Vocational Administrator for 16 years, making a total of 52 years. Her B.S. degree came from Southeastern University, her M.A. came from Texas State for Women and her PhD. came from Texas Womans University. In 1991, she was presented the one and only 50 year pin for a Denison educator. In 1955 she served on the state textbook committee, which can be done only once in a lifetime; in 1959 she was elected most representative teacher at D.H.S.; 1962-69 she served 7 terms on the District S.T.S.T.A. Board and was a representative to the N.E.A. conventions twice; 1967-69 first vice-president and the president of Area V Economics Teachers; 1967-68 vice-president and then president of Denison Education Association; 1971 elected D.H.S. Teacher of the Year; 1974 elected DHS faculty sweetheart; 1976 nominated for Texas Teacher of the Year; 1977-79 president of A.A.U.W; 1977-93 director of Vocational Education Advisory Council; 1978-93 Vocational Advisory Council for Grayson ; 1978-93 American Vocational Association; 1977-93 Texas State Vocational Association;1977-93 North Texas Vocational Administrators, serving as secretary four years; certified appraiser for placement of teachers on er Ladder; 1979 voted Outstanding Educator by AAUW; 1979 represented the president of TWU at the inauguration of Dr. Harry Smith at Austin ; 1978-79 program chairman for DEA; at the May breakfast, the largest number of teachers attended as Dr. Smith, Austin president, was the speaker and the teacher of belly dancing performed; 1982 in the issue of the Texas School Business Magazine, Dr. Willis was featured as Educator of the month; 1991 Steering Committee for the Tech Prep Consortium; 1988-93 co-coordinator for the At-Risk Program; 1990-93 co-coordinator for the GED Program; 1993-96 Board of Directors for the Grayson Teachers Credit Union and elected secretary; 1978-93 Denison Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Newsletter Committee four years; 1976-90 American Association of University Women, serving two years as president. she retired in 1993, she was one of the directors for the Denison Education Foundation and served four years; served on the school board for the Episcopal Day School for four years; president of Monodrama Club 1997-98; president of Review 2006-2007; secretary of Review 2005-2006.
