Obituary: Lauren Louis White was born 10, 1925 in Cater , Oklahoma, to Elisia G. White and Jewel Cowan White. He and his wife Bonnie were married in 1951 and lived in Brown since 1963. For many years he was a stock farmer. Joining the Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of 18, Mr. White served until 1946 and achieved the rank of Corporal. Mr. White was a member of the Salt Creek Baptist Church and the Pecan Valley Marine League. Mr. White was proud to serve his country in World War II, and loved the United States Marine Corps. He believed in the motto Once a marine, always a marine, while being a pushover in regard to his four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He enjoyed rain storms, collecting, and his family farm. L.L. is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie, eldest daughter Teresa and her husband Joe Drisdale of Austin, daughter Melinda and her husband Joe Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, granddaughter Stefani and her husband Todd Mathis of Austin, granddaughter Chelsea Drisdale of Brownwood, grandsons Ryland Johnson of Columbia, Missouri and Lauren Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, niece Kathy Moore of Granada Hills, California, nephew Ed White of Maui, Hawaii, two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. L.L. was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lawrence J. White. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at 11:30AM, , 31, at Salt Creek Baptist Church, prior to the funeral service. |

Obituary: Louis Franklin White, of Abilene, passed away on , 17, 2014, at Abilene Regional Medical . Louis was born in the small community of Tuxedo, Texas on 12, 1922, to Thomas Lee White and Myrtle M. Smith White. Louis grew up in the Tuxedo area, where he attended school and was a member of the Methodist church. A precocious child and eager to learn, Louis was advanced a grade in early elementary school. When Louis was ten his brother, Lowell Lynn, was born. have always had a close relationship. high school graduation, Louis joined the U. S. Army on 20, 1940. He was stationed at Ft. Bliss and Ft. Sam Houston, and on 31, 1943, Louis was assigned to Third Army, European Theater of Operations. He soon earned the title: Chief of Operations. As part of General Patton's support, Louis' company followed Patton's troops, furnishing headquarters a daily report detailing the status and vital statistics of each unit in the command using coded, key-punched cards. Louis was stationed in England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany. Following the end of World War II, Louis was honorably discharged in , 1945. Returning to the states, Louis met Edna Ruth Stooksberry in Dallas, Texas. married on 19, 1946, and shared 58 wonderful years together until her passing on 8, 2005. Louis worked for a short time in the 1950's for Rural Life Insurance in the accounting department.. He earned his CPA certificate in 1960. Soon after, Louis started his own accounting firm and practiced accounting until his retirement in 1987. Louis and Edna lived in Dallas through 1977, then moved to DeSoto in 1980. In 2007, Louis moved to Abilene. Louis was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had many interests including reading, writing, poetry, theology, science, and politics. He wrote many poems over his lifetime. In 2010, Louis completed and published a book: Louis F. White's Memoirs. Louis lived his life with honesty and integrity. He was intelligent, kind, genuine, and giving. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna; niece, Suzette Menchaca; and sister-in-law, Nancy White. He is survived by his brother, Lynn White of Stamford; nephew, David (Denise) White of Stamford; niece, Marilyn Keneaster of Houston; niece, Lynda (Mark) Foster of Levelland; brother-in-law, Finis (Martha) Stooksberry of Plano; niece, Annette (Greg) Benson of Weatherford; numerous great nieces and nephews; and special friends: Joy and Theril Montooth of Trinidad, Texas, and Terry Lee of Abilene. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on , 20, 2014, at Laurel Land in Dallas. |

Obituary: Dr. Lonnie J. White, age 84, of Texarkana, Texas, died 26. Dr. White was born 12, 1931, on a farm in the Cliff community of Haskell Texas. He graduated from O'Brien High School in 1947, moved with his parents to Hale , and attended Wayland Baptist in Plainview, Texas. He married Nancy Evans of White Deer, Texas, in 1951. He earned degrees from West Texas State, Texas Tech, and the University of Texas at Austin, taught history as a teaching assistant at Texas, and retired emeritus professor of history from the University of Memphis, Tennessee in 1989. Lonnie was an athlete and pianist in his youth, worked for two years at a gas refinery in the Oklahoma Panhandle, served in the Army during the Korean War, held a private pilot's license, and was a frequent traveler in retirement. He has lived in Texarkana and been a member of First Baptist Church, Moores Lane, and the WOW School class since moving to Texarkana in 1993. Dr. White was the author of numerous articles and book reviews printed in professional journals. Four of his eight published books dealt with Arkansas territorial politics, Indian battles and campaigns in the West, and the 36th and 90th Texas-Oklahoma Divisions in World War One. Old Mobeetie and the Red River Indian War were the subject of two edited books. He was an associate editor of Journal of the West for 25 years, was a member of several professional associations, including life memberships in the American and Southern Historical Associations, and was recognized in a number of biographical publications including the Marquis Who's Who in America. He is preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Fannie Coates White of Knox City and Plainiew, one brother, John B. White of Lubbock, and his grandparents James and Effie White and Charles and Emma Coates of Knox City. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy, whom he met at Wayland in 1948, one son Dr. John Evans White of Albuquerque, one daughter Brenda White Holman and husband Dr. Steven W. Holman of Texarkana, and six grandchildren: John Alexander, James Edward, and Suzanne Evelyn White; Michelle Anne and Dustin White Holman, Jennifer Holman Letz and husband Alan, along with two great-grandchildren Elizabeth Anne and David Andrew Letz. service will be 10am , 2, 2015 at East Memorial Chapel 2807 Moores Lane, Texarkana, TX with Rev. Larry Sims officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of East -Moores Lane. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4pm , 1, 2015 at East -Moores Lane.
