Obituary: Marion Williams Whitaker was Born 11, 1921, in Edna, Texas to W.R. Williams and Marion Park Williams, the youngest of 11 siblings, passed away on May 12, 2016, at the age of 95 at Keller Oaks care . Upon graduating from high school, she attended a Catholic nursing school in Houston, TX. Marion met and fell in love with Curly Whitaker, who worked at the local drug store soda fountain. eloped May 23, 1939, and she was expelled from the program when the Sisters discovered she was married. moved to Fort Worth after the war and started their family. She enjoyed raising her daughters, serving as a Girl Scout Leader, teaching School at Richland Hills Baptist Church, and being very active in the church. She started working at General Dynamics in 1966, then went to work in retail for many years at Stripling Cox. She was an avid gardener, like to sew, knit, crochet, and cook. Her favorite thing was being with her extensive family. being widowed in 1982, she enjoyed traveling, and beginning in 1977, she became a devoted "Memaw" to her grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all of her siblings. She is survived by daughters, Debbie Moore, Brenda Brown (Greg), grandchildren Rebecca St. Germain (Matt), Michael Brown (Tory), and great grandchildren, Samuel and Eli St. Germain, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other friends. Service led by Rev. James Hooper of Richland Hills Baptist. |
