Obituary: DENISON - Ray West from Denison, Texas passed away 12, 2012 at the age of 90. He was born in Denison to r R. and Grace Donald West on 14, 1921. He married Alice James on 17, 1948. She preceded him in death on May 17, 1997. Ray attended Denison High School. He served in the US Air Force during World War II, teaching airplane mechanics to cadets in Idaho. He was also stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC. leaving the military he worked as a civilian at Perrin Field Air Force Base. He owned and operated Rays Auto Parts for over 30 years. He and his brother, Roe, who passed away 23, 2011, worked side by side repairing cars, selling auto parts and operating a wrecker service until his retirement. He created and built the Little Pat locomotive in 1953 that is still driven in the local parades by American Legion members. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1956 and was a faithful and loyal member. In 1992, he received the Golden Trowel award from the Billie Mosse Lodge No. 1152 for outstanding service to lodge, church and community. He was also a member of the Grayson Scottish Rite, North Texas Shrine, Scottish Rite and Hella Temple of Dallas and a long time member of the First Christian Church. He served as a deacon and completed many projects during his time with the building committee at the church. He loved a good song and especially piano music. He worked on player pianos and restored a Reproduco instrument (a combination player piano and organ). This particular player was once used in Denisons Star Movie Theater in the 1920s and 30s and played the music score which accompanied the movies during that time period. He loved the circus as a boy and the calliope pipe organs whose sounds brought the people to the big top. In 1976 he decided to build one of his own. Once completed you could hear it for several blocks in parades, events or even in his own back yard. His strong faith, family and friends kept him with us for 90 years. Ray will be tremendously missed by those friends and family members. He is survived by daughters: Beth Niemi and husband, Mark of Denison; Pat Whited and husband, Tim of Nederland, Colorado; granddaughters: Sara Coutts and husband Jake of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Claire Prida and husband Miguel of Galveston, TX; sister-in-law, Arta West and several nieces and nephews. A celebration service to honor and remember Ray will be held at the First Christian Church on , 31st at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Billie Mosse Lodge No. 1152, 2101 S. West, born 30, 1942 to Allyn and Stancie West in Newport, NH, Mr. West was a class of 1961 graduate of Towle High School in Newport, NH, and he served 4 years in the Air Force in Abilene, TX. Over the years, hes worked diligently in various jobs and industries, including: 17 years as a volunteer Fire Fighter for Claremont, NH; 14 years with Tambrands, Inc; several years as a small engine mechanic for Dennis Fleury and 8 years part-time with Enterprise Rental Car. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, old cars, going camping and visiting the ocean in Maine for sea food. Peter married Oneta J. Stanley on May 8, 1964; they have one daughter, Shelia Parkinson. Mr. West is survived by wife Oneta; daughter Shelia and husband Lance; In-laws: Robert, Eddie and Rick Stanley, Johnnie and wife Mary Hennessee, Gary and wife Becky Hollis, Ed Faircloth and Carolyn Fenner, as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins. Obituary: Patty Passed away 1 from complications of M.S. She was born 30, 1953 to Bill and Myrl Gorey in McHenry, Illinois. As a child they moved to Lubbock, TX where she grew up helping the family business. She graduated from Monterey High School. In 1971 she met Larry West. were married 8, 1972 in Lubbock, Texas. just celebrated their 42nd anniversary. To this union came two wonderful children, Patrick West and Tara West Allen. Diagnosed with M.S. in 1991, she fought everyday against this horrible disease. Although confined to a wheel chair and later a bed she never gave up her fight. She was still the family leader to us all. The Cubs, Vikings, and Texas Rangers lost a great fan today. She was preceded in death by her mother Myrl and her beloved younger sister Kara, and her son-in-law Matt. She is survived by her husband Larry; son, Patrick and wife Jennifer; daughter, Tara; sisters, Nancy (Wayne) and Margie. She is also survived by the two most precious things in her life, her grandchildren, James and Avalee West; sister-in-laws Peggy and Nelda; Nieces and Nephews, especially Shawn McClain. Special thanks to Interim Hospice of Lubbock, Mel, Jana, Bre, and Nina. The family loves and thanks you for your love and help.
