Obituary: Gerald Henry Weghorst, a long-time resident of Dallas, passed away , 1, 2016, at the age of 89. Born 22, 1926, in Washington , Texas to Frederick Weghorst and Martha Bohne Weghorst, Gerald was raised in Brenham, Texas along with his younger sister Mary. While attending high school, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and served as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. As a senior in high school, the U.S. Navy selected Gerald for naval officer training, and he was sworn into the Navy on his 17th birthday. He served two and a half years on active duty during World War II and immediately afterward, with thirteen months of that time spent working in the Combat Information aboard the USS Boxer. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant. discharge from active duty with the Navy, Gerald attended Blinn Junior in Brenham, where he played basketball in the 1947 state championship game. He transferred to Texas A&M University, graduating in 1949 with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering. While in college, Gerald was recruited by Dallas Power and Light . He worked in many capacities, including Head of Underground Lines Division, and retired following a 38-year career at DP&L. Gerald met the love of his life, Phyllis Brown, on New Years Eve 1956, and they were married on May 18, 1957 at Highland Baptist Church in Dallas. had two sons, Hank and Allan, and were both wonderful parents involved in home, school, sports, and scouting activities. Gerald was Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for his sons' Boy Scout Troop 636, and was awarded the Silver Beaver for service to youth by the National Council. Gerald was a long-time member of Central Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council. He also served on supervisory committees when he moved to Brookdale Club Hill in Garland. He loved to travel, visiting 47 states and 42 countries. He was a wonderful photographer and organized his photos and videos into a lifetime of memories to be shared by family and friends. Gerald is survived by son Hank (wife Linda) of Austin, and son Allan (wife Nanette) of Rockwall, and grandchildren Dustin, Alex, Aaron, Grace, Savannah, and Sophie; sister Mary Blackmon of Altus, OK, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gerald is preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis, who passed away in 1991. The family wishes to thank caregivers at Brookdale (Garland), Autumn Leaves Memory (Rockwall), and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful and loving care for Gerald, and for the many friends and family members who enriched Geralds life, as he himself enriched our lives. |

Obituary: Lynsey Renee Wegg, age 22 of San Antonio, TX a beloved daughter, sister, niece and friend went home to eternal rest and peace on 7, 2001. She was born on 28, 1979 in Wiesbaden, Germany to Joe and Katie Anderson Wegg. She joins her father and maternal grandparents A.J. and Marietta Anderson, Gladys Anderson Orange and Bill Anderson. She is survived by her mother, and stepfather Dave Warlick of San Antonio, TX. Her brothers, Bradley S. of Ft Collins, CO and Rodney B. of San Antonio, TX, and a stepsister, Julie Warlick of Sunrise Beach, TX. Grandparents, Joe and Helen Wegg of Oaklawn, IL, and step grandmother Frances Warlick of Jefferson, TX. Eight aunts, ten uncles a multitude of cousins and friends, will greatly and lovingly miss her. Death came in the afternoon at Wilford Hall Medical in San Antonio, TX where she was taken with stomach pains in the early morning. Everyone that knew Lynsey was touched by her love, personality and caring and are in a state of shock and sadness. She had been healthy for the past four years and enjoying life as a college student partying and dancing with her many friends. Those who knew her were inspired by her love of life, wonderful smile, independence, I can do anything attitude and positive outlook on life. During her short life, she survived cancer and received a heart transplant in 1995. She loved helping other children through her volunteer work with CAMP ChildrenÂs Association For Maximum Potential, ARC Association For Retarded Citizens and Santa Rosa Oncology. She attended school at Castle Hills Elementary in San Antonio, TX, Kaiserslautern Elementary and Middle School, Kaiserslautern, Germany and graduated from MacArthur H.S., San Antonio, TX. There she received the Speech and Debate Best Interpretation Award 1995-96 and 1996-97. She also received the Optimist Club Outstanding Youth Award in 1997 during her final year of High School. She attended University of Incarnate Word, San Antonio and Southwest Texas where she was returning in to finish her degree in child psychology. LynseyÂs mother and family wishes to express their gratitude to all the teachers that worked with her during her many illness and especially all the homebound teachers.
