Obituary: Kenneth Webb Watkins, age 82, of Athens, Texas, passed away 10, 2015 in Garland, Texas. He was born 22, 1933 in Lavon, Texas. Webb was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Watkins; mother and step-father, Marie and Clifford Edwards; father, Frank Watkins; and brother, Lindy Watkins. Obituary: Virginia Kay Watkins, 72, passed away , May 7, 2017, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. , May 11, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with a reception to follow at the home of Scott and Patricia Watkins, 925 Logansport Street in Nacogdoches. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. , May 13, 2017, at Long Branch in Rising Star, Texas. Kay was born May 9, 1944, in Gorman, Texas to Charley Alexander and Gladys Lillie (Daugherty) Walker. She grew up in Rising Star, Texas and graduated high school in 1962. She then attended and graduated from Draughons Business in Abilene. During her career, she will be most remembered for her role as Treasurer for Nacogdoches where she served six consecutive terms from 1983 - 2006. She was also a member of The Nacogdoches Garden Club and The Nacogdoches Historical Society. Kay Watkins was an avid gardener, and many people would comment on the beauty as they drove by her home. She loved animals, taking on strays to find a home as well as nurturing wild animals back to health. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cloyd Walker; and sister, Imogene Dudley. She is survived by her sons, Michael Scott Watkins and wife Patricia and Charles Walker Watkins. The Watkins family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the medical staff at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital ER and ICU as well as Chaplain Harris, their care for Kay was exceptional. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made in Kays name to The Nacogdoches Humane Society or to The Alzheimers Association. Obituary: Virginia Lucille Watkins, 59, of Big Lake, passed away , Dec. 7, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Virginia Was born Feb. 19, 1956, in San Angelo, to the late Bill and Bessie Faries Pennington. She was raised and spent her life in Big Lake, graduating from Reagan High School in 1974. raising her children, she attended Angelo State University and was just weeks away from graduating with a nursing degree when a debilitating illness forced her to quit. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Big Lake. She also drove the school bus and was a substitute teacher for the Reagan schools for a number of years. Virginia was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very strong woman who was loyal and committed to her beliefs and had a zest for life. She loved being the wife of a rancher and being a mom to her children. She adored her grandchildren and loved taking care of all children and being "mom" to everyone. She loved being outdoors, especially gardening and fishing and helping on the ranch. Some of her favorite hobbies included sewing, cooking, crafting and decorating. Virginia is survived by her husband of 40 years, Johnny Watkins; son Cody Watkins and his wife, Coral; daughter Lori Watkins; and grandchildren Cheyenne, Caitlynn and Colton James, all of the ranch in Big Lake; sister Caroline Pennington and brother Billy Pennington and his wife, Charlene, all of Brownwood; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Open visitation will be held and at Johnson's , where friends may pay their respect. service will be at 2 p.m. , Dec. 11, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Big Lake with J.B. (Byron) Bitner and Gerald Bastin officiating. Burial will follow in Stiles , Stiles, Texas. Obituary: Tom was born 10, 1923 to Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Watkins, Sr. in Seagoville, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on 1, 2017. He was an accomplished athlete in high school, graduated at age sixteen and served as valedictorian of his class. He attended North Texas State University where he received a BS in Chemistry and Math. graduation, he attended Naval Officer School and served as an Aircraft Fighter Radar Controller during WWII. In 1946 he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he was a Teaching Fellow and received his Masters Degree in Chemistry. He joined Mobil Research and Development Corp. in 1947 where he had a long and illustrious career as Drilling Manager. During his career he traveled to many different countries. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, son Dan and wife Lorie, daughter Cheryl Neathery and husband Mark, son David and wife Mimi, two grandsons, four granddaughters, twelve great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and many friends. He was a founding member of Randol Mill Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas where he served as an elder for many years. The family thanks the staff of Fountain View and VNA Hospice for their exceptional professional and loving care of Tom over the last year and a half.
