Obituary: Frank W. Wallace passed away on 28, 2010 in San Antonio at the age of 80. He was born in Rockdale, Texas to William and Evalenna Wallace on 9, 1929, the third of seven children. His family moved to San Antonio when he was a small boy to a small farm in the middle of where the airport is now. Young Frank shared a passion for race cars with his best friend, George Caroll, whose father was a masonry contractor. Frank worked as a mason tender mixing mud with a hoe. In 1949 when the first building for Trinity Baptist Church was erected, Frank got his first chance to get on the wall and lay brick, that first job was the start to a life time career. Frank was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1951. As part of the Armys 25th division, Frank served as a military escort for the tank convoys and troop movements between the main line of resistance and the southern base of PU Han. Frank received the UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Svc Stars, and 1 Overseas Bar. Returning to San Antonio in May of 1952, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Krizek, the following month. At that time Frank was determined to get into the masonry union, Bricklayers of Texas Local #2. He obtained three vouchers attesting to his capabilities and successfully gained membership. As a union bricklayer, Frank worked through the union for general contractors, supervising commercial masonry installations. In 1966 he opened his own business, Wallace Masonry . His masonry structures are all over the San Antonio area, including the heating and cooling plant for Hemisfair, areas along the San Antonio River Walk, area schools, office buildings and many of the Bill Miller BBQ restaurants. In 1982 Wallace Masonry was awarded the contract for the San Antonio Airport Terminal 2 which was a big undertaking. However, the most men he ever employed on one project at a time was when the company erected the glass façade at the entrance to Sea World in 17 days. Frank was a founding member for The San Antonio Masonry Contractors Association SAMCA. Frank and Rosemarys son, Johnny, grew up in the business and started working with his folks on a full time basis when he graduated from high school. He will continue his role in managing the business. Frank and Rosemary were married for 58 years and both shared the love of hunting deer in South Texas for years including this past season. Their passion for hunting and fishing are evident by the notable trophy room in their home, filled with North American feather, fins, furs and other collectibles. To Frank any day that included a fishing trip or deer hunt was a great day. Their vacation home in Port Aransas and their fishing boat with their son, Johnny as the captain allowed Frank to catch a lot of fish. He won the 1993 Texas Invitational Fishing Tournament TIFT in Port Isabel with two blue marlins and two white marlins. If they found themselves with nothing to do on a weekend they would take off with their son and daughter-in-law for Coushatta for a little fun, if Frank won a little it was a great trip, if he lost a little he was never going back. Frank enjoyed going to his farm where he raised cattle and a garden. Frank was a 50 year member in Shiners International and a Master Mason in Good Standing in the Grand Lodge of Texas, Davy Crockett No. 1225. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, William and Evalenna Wallace; sisters, Leona Vaughn and Betty Jo La Brie. Frank is survived by his wife, Rosemary; son, Johnny and his wife, Janie; brothers, Buddy and his wife, Juenell and Clyde and his wife, Glenna; sisters, Helen Martin and Joyce Pollok and her husband, Fabian; sister-in-law, Teresa Fey; brother-in-law, David Krizek and his wife, Cheri. Frank is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Franks loyalty to friends, his love for his family and his wonderful laughter will be warmly remembered and dearly missed. Visitation will be held on , 3, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring. ROSARY WEDNESDAY MARCH 3, 2010 7:00 P.M. PORTER LORING CHAPEL GRAVESIDE SERVICE THURSDAY MARCH 4, 2010 10:00 A.M. Everyone who knew Inez was touched by her special country blend of grace, love, and beauty. She fought the good fight, she finished the race, and she kept the faith...
