Obituary: Vivian Tharp Walker, 92, of Baytown, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 30, 2010. She was born in Junction City, KS, to Dr. Roger Tharp and Myrtle Mae (Mooney) Tharp on 9, 1918. She grew up in Mansfield, LA, and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1934. She continued her education at the University of Louisiana-Nacogdoches, where she earned a B.S. degree in 1939. She was a Physical Education teacher when she met and married Stuart Walker on 8, 1945. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, listening to country music, and she especially enjoyed watching the Astros. Vivian was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Mont Belvieu, where she actively served in choir, as a teacher and a member of the Baptist Women; she also was a member of the D.A.R. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 37 years, Stuart Walker and a sister, Elsie Tharp. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Whitener and husband David (Butch); sons, Dan Walker and Tim Walker; grandchildren, Staci Whitener and fiancée Eric Bolton, Brian Holliday and wife Charlotte and Angela Guthrie and husband Mike; great grandchildren, Jade Bourque, Cohen Bolton, Abbey Holliday, Ashlyn Holliday, Mitch Guthrie and Carter Guthrie; sister-in-law, Melba Ross; brother-in-law, Bill Bacle, many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of RHC of Baytown for their loving care for nearly three years. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., , Oct. 6, 2010, at Earthman . services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on , Oct. 6, 2010, at Earthman , with Rev. Jake Porter officiating. Obituary: Virginia Stiles Walker, 91, of Arlington, TX went to be with her Lord on , 30, 2017. Visitation: , 3, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Moore . Service: , 4, 2017 at 1 PM at First Baptist Church - Arlington. Interment to follow at Moore Memorial Gardens. Virginia was born in Terrell, Texas to Vivian Mae Pankey and Raymond H. Stiles on 18, 1925. She married John Joseph Walker 22, 1947 in Kaufman, Texas. Virginia and John were married for 62 years prior to his death, living in Fort Worth during most of that time. She recently moved to Arlington. Virginia taught Bible classes for 75 years, from the time she was 16 until 3 weeks before her death. Her last class, the Grace class at First Baptist Church, Arlington, was very precious to her. Her loving involvement in church work included serving on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for 6 years and serving as Tarrant Baptist Association G.A. Director for 3 years, in addition to long service as G.A. Director at Polytechnic Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Virginia graduated with a BBA from Baylor University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity, in 1946. She taught school in Lovington, New Mexico and substituted in the FWISD for 12 years. Following retirement, Virginia and John traveled the world, visiting 68 countries on 6 continents. Virginia was preceded in death by husband John, and son, Stephen John Walker. Survivors: Daughters, Carol Crumpton and husband Tommy, and Nina Ronalder and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Trey Crumpton and wife, Ashley, Tim Crumpton and wife, Carie, Katrina Weiss and husband, Alex, Chris Ronalder and wife, Brenna, and Nick Ronalder and wife, Jordan; great grandchildren, Benjamin Crumpton, Brooklyn Crumpton, and Nora Crumpton, and many nieces and nephews. Walker, her sisters Gwendolyn Blount and Fairys Sanders, her brothers-in-law Alan Blount and D.E. Tony Sanders, and her beloved nephew, Richard Blount. Miss Walker is survived by her nephew Mike Sanders, and her nieces, Carol Smith, Virginia Richmond, Sally Cowan, and Susan Vrana, 10 great nieces and nephews, and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Virginia grew up on Parkview in East Dallas and attended Mt. Auburn Elementary School. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1933, and Abilene Christian in 1938. She taught school for 40 years in Stiles, Granbury, and Dallas, Texas. She served in leadership positions in the education sorority Delta Kappa Gamma, and as a school teacher and volunteer for many years at Garland Road and Highland Oaks Churches of Christ. Virginia loved her friends, her students, music, travel, teaching, handwork, and crossword puzzles.
