Obituary: services for Lucy Edna Wagnon, age 92, of Trinity, formerly of Odessa and Lake Brownwood, will be at 9:00 AM, , 20, 2010 in the Davis-Morris Chapel. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park in Odessa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Mrs. Wagnon passed away on , 14, 2010 at her home in Trinity. Edna was born on 11, 1918 in the Bowser community to John and Lucy (Ford) Gober. She married Ewell L. Jack Wagnon on 24, 1934 in Brownwood. lived in Fort Worth prior to moving to Odessa in 1955 where they owned and operated Odessa Venetian Blind Co. In retirement, Edna and Jack moved to Lake Brownwood for several years before returning to Odessa. The later moved to Trinity to be closer to their daughter. were longtime members of Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 73 years, Jack Wagnon in 2008, a daughter, Hylma Smith and her husband Cotton, a grandson, Stephen Smith, four brothers, Walter, Elton, Johnny, and Emmit Gober, two sisters, Myrtle Adams and Elsie Bean. Edna is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Kyle and husband Loy of Trinity; four grandchildren, Phillip Smith and wife Robyn of Aztec, New Mexico, Andrew Smith and wife Beth of Odessa, David Kevil and wife Lisa of Houston, Christina Heffernan of Houston; eleven great-grandchildren, Samantha Gray, Jacoby Jones, Troy Kevil, Shane Kevil, Jacqueline Heffernan, Haley Smith, Drew Smith, Emily Smith, Amber Smith, Zachary Smith, and Joshua Smith; two great-great-grandchildren, Hannah Gray and Corey Smith-Underwood; two sisters, Linnie Green of Midland and Inez Lack of Brownwood. |

Obituary: On 23, 2015 surrounded by his family, Dixon R. Wagnon of Lubbock, TX, peacefully passed from this life. Dixon was born in Meadow, Tx. on 13, 1925 to William Burl (Happy) Wagnon and Morna Estelle Duke Wagnon. Dixon (Dick) grew up in Bailey , starting school in Lazbuddie, Tx. and graduating from Muleshoe High School in 1942. He attended Texas Tech as an electrical Engineer major until he volunteered for the war effort. Dixon was commissioned as an officer and trained as a Navy pilot during WWII. On 16, 1945, Dixon married his childhood sweetheart, Wynelle Eskridge. were married almost 70 years. Dixon was a member of the Church of Christ, attending the Sunset congregation since 1956. With his wifes support, Dixon created many successful careers; owning a wholesale candy distributorship, a logging business in Colorado, Trafalger s, Lubbocks first home and garden center Buddys and Wagnon-Griffith Insurance Agency. Hay farming and grass seeding thousands or acres of the rolling plains area defined Dixons retirement. A former award winning toastmaster, Dixon was renowned for his clever wit and storytelling expertise, only eclipsed by his legendary skills as a great dry fly fisherman. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Jennifer Julianne Wagnon, and son-in-law, Ron Stowe. Dixon is survived by his devoted wife, Wynelle; his son, Stan Wagnon (Maryann); Daughter, Kay Wagnon-Holder, of Lubbock; his Daughter, Lauren Stowe of Pfluggerville, his Grandchildren: Brian Wagnon (Dana), Colin Holder, Rhealan Wagnon Hensley (Chris), Ali Stowe, Aaron Stowe, Victoria Stowe, Nathan Stowe, and Great Grandchildren, Preslee Wagnon and Reese Wagnon. Also surviving are brothers William Burl Wagnon Jr, Lubbock, and Joe Mack Wagnon (Beverly) of Oklahoma City. |

Obituary: Woodrow Wilson Wagner, 97, of Victoria, died May 13, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. He was born 30, 1913 in Victoria to Lou Eismann Wagner and Ed Wagner. He married Pearl Pauline Gabrysch on 23, 1936 in Edna. He served in the Tree Army in New Mexico, served in the Marine National Guard, and worked in the shipyards on the Houston Ship Channel during World War II. the war, he moved back to Victoria and worked for York Oil before founding his own homebuilding company of Woodrow Wagner and Sons, INC. retirement, he continued to volunteer for years for many building projects. He was a lifelong Catholic, and one of the founding families of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fourth Degree. He enjoyed volunteering at the parish festivals and KC events. He loved to play dominoes, play cards, hunt, and fish with his friends and family members in west Texas, Jackson , and his ranch in Ezzell. He was an avid gardener and pecan grower. He maintained his yard and his garden on his own until age 95. He was a great mentor and example of his many skills for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by two sons: Bill (Ann) and Patrick (Virginia); two daughters, Sue (Ray) Lesak and Kay Thigpen; 16 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Also three brothers: Louis, Loyd, and Jack Wagner. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Pearl; infant son, Phillip Ronald; brother, Floyd; and sisters, Mary Ann Otto, Katy Smith, Marie Bailey, Nora Herbold, and Irene Knipling. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm , May 15, 2011 at Colonial Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mass will be 10:30 am , May 16, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, with the Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection with full military honors under Auspices of Victoria Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Darryl, Scott, and Stephen Lesak; Jay, Chad, and Jason Thigpen; Woodrow (II), David, Daren, Billy, Brian, and Aron Wagner; Laura Simmons, Donna Bures, Paula Allgood, and Sylvia Lloyd. Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund or the charity of the donors choice. Obituary: William G. Bill Wagner, age 85, crossed over into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ , May 07, 2007. He was born, 18, 1922, in the mountain town of Gate City, Virginia, the son of a horseback circuit-riding preacher, James Hunter Wagner and his wife, Emma Gibson Wagner. At an early age, Bill moved with his family to Missouri where he later graduated from Central in Fayette, MO. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and took aerial navigator training in Texas at Hondo. Here Bill met Barbara Bobbye Burger, later to become his wife. completing crew training on Flying Fortress B-17Âs, he was sent to England where he was assigned to the 8th Air Force. With the 379th Bomb Group, Bill flew 35 combat missions, including air support for ground troops in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Air Medal with six Oak Leaf clusters. Bill and Bobbye were married by his Dad in , 1945, upon his return to the States. Having been sports editor of his college newspaper, Bill sought employment as a journalist and for two years worked on the Houston Chronicle as a reporter. In 1947, they moved to San Antonio and Bill joined the staff of the San Antonio Express-News. In his 27 years with the paper, Bill became city editor, news editor, and managing editor and when he retired in 1975, he was executive editor and vice president. He was a member of the American Society of Newspaper Editors and an officer in the Texas Associated Press Managing EditorÂs Association. retirement, Bill accepted an offer from the State of Texas to serve as a public information officer and he and Bobbye moved to Austin. For his work there he received commendations from both the Texas Senate and House of Representatives, principally for authoring a book, Write Right, designed to eliminate bureaucratic terminology in state memos and reports. It became widely used in government and commercial offices. Bill retired from the State in 1985. While in Austin, Bill taught journalism at Concordia University and accepted editorship of The Texas Messenger, a magazine that is the official publication of the Texas District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. In 1992, Bill and Bobbye returned to San Antonio where Bill continued his church magazine work and both rejoined Concordia Lutheran Church where they first became members in 1953. At Concordia, Bill served in numerous capacities, including twice being elected congregational president under the Rev. Dr. Guido Merkens. On the national level he served on three Missouri Synod boards. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Bobbye; son, Rev. Stephen Wagner, pastor and executive leader of the Pastoral Leadership Institute PLI in Carrollton, TX, and wife, Rita; daughter, Sandra Wagner of San Antonio; and daughter, Susan Haley and husband, David of Naruna, TX; five grandchildren, Leah and Lance Wagner, Jennifer Pinkerton and husband, Scott, Betsy Post and husband, Steven, and Angela Haley; 3 great-granddaughters, Sarah, Phoebe and Ellen Pinkerton; also nieces and nephews.
