Obituary: Mr. Ed Weaver, Sr. passed away at his home on , May 14, 2011. Services will be held in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons on , May 18, 2011 at 11 a.m., with Dan Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest . Mr. Weaver was born on 8, 1919 in Haywood to the late Fassell and Emma Morris Weaver. He graduated from Bemis High School and attended U.T. Knoxville. He served in the Army in the Medical Department. He was loved by his family, friends and made many contributions to the community. He owned a taxi business and a restaurant business in his early years, and later was a residential and commercial building contractor for over 30 years. Ed developed 5 subdivisions, including Ramblewood, and built the first Comprehensive Vocational School which is now the Madison Central Office of Schools. He was President of the Pope Elementary School and Northside High School P.T.A. Mr. Weaver was awarded a life membership for his service. As President of the City Council of P.T.As, he helped develop a plan to consolidate the City and School Systems. Mr. Weaver served on a committee to air condition all schools in Madison . He was on the Jackson Madison School Board for 21 years, serving as Chairman some of those years. As a Jackson Jaycee, Ed helped to build 2 baseball fields and assisted the Athletic Department coaching baseball, football, basketball, and golf at Northside High School. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award in 1999 by the Madison Sports Hall of Fame. Ed was involved in the Lions Club for over 50 years and built the Northside Lions Club, where he held many offices. He was also District Governor of District 12-1, and received the prestigious Melvin Jones Award. He was awarded Ambassador of Good Will, and was President of the Past District Governors Association. He started the Mobile Sight Van and was presented with a life membership by Mid-South Sight Service, and was recently nominated by the Humboldt Lions Club to be inducted into the Lions Club Hall of Fame. retirement, Mr. Weaver and his wife, the late Sarah Dorthula Weaver, spent winters at their Condo in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, enjoying golf and the warm weather. He is survived by a son, Ed Weaver, Jr. (Angie); and a daughter, Dotty Weaver-Hall (Jack); sister, Betty Laslee (Bill); brother, Bill Weaver; granddaughters, Leanne Mattingly, Lisa Reese, Laura Mayo, Amanda Hall and Melanie Kelly, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorthula and a sister, Naomi Hailey. Active Pallbearers to serve are Mr. Weavers nephews: Jeff Weaver, Scott Weaver, Stan Weaver, Ronnie Laslee, Greg Laslee and Dennis Hailey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dave Martin, Austin Jennings, Joe Exum, Buddy Patey, Charles Garrett, Robert Thomas, Ed Archer, Bill Lasley, Wayne Collins, and the members of the Al Wilson School Class at The First Baptist Church, where Ed was a deacon and an active member for many years. Visitation with the family will be held on , May 17, 2011 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., at the North Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humboldt Lions Club, P.O. Box 41, Humboldt, TN 38343. Obituary: Dorothy Goodman Weaver-Kingsport, TN. Went home to be with the Lord, 16, 2010 close to midnight after an extended illness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harry C. Weaver, Sr.; her parents, William Lee and Sarah Catherine Isley Goodman; 3 brothers, Cecil, Clarence and William Lee Jr.; 4 sisters, Evalee Barker, Juanita Casteel, Pauline Goodman and Gladys Moody. She is survived by her 5 children: Garry L. Weaver and wife, Judy of Knoxville; Judy McKenzie and husband Larry Lynda Hilton and husband Larry; Harry C. Weaver, Jr. and wife Kelly, all of Kingsport; Rebecca Miller-Jackson and husband Mike of Piney Flats: 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and she is also survived by 1 sister, Hazel Moretz of Bristol, Va. and several nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and Seamstress she spent lots of time with family and friends. Raising a large family of 5 by raising a garden and storing food stuff to feed a big family through the winters surely kept her busy so it is hard for any of us to know how she was able to get everything done that she accomplished. She was a Charter Member of Indian Springs Baptist Church, choir member, school Teacher, Jr. Choir Director and worked in Vacation Bible School in the summers for the children of the church. She was also a member of the Liberty Chapter #198 Order of the Eastern Star, Kingsport, TN. The family will be receiving friends , 19, 2010 from 2:00- 5:00 p.m. at Indian Springs Baptist Church, Kingsport, Tn. The funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Roc Collins and Brother Mike Morgan at 5:00 p.m. with special music provided by Paul Patterson. A graveside service will be conducted , 19,2010 at 10:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park, Garden of the good Shepherd, Kingsport, Tn. Pallbearers as requested by our mother will be her 6 grandsons: Michael G. Weaver, Bradley W. McKenzie, Jordan A. weaver, Clinton L. Miller, Paul S. Miller and Jacob Michael weaver. We the family would like to thank our Church Family at Indian Springs Baptist Church and all our friends for all the cards, flowers and notes of encouragement sent to Mother and those who have continued to keep mother and all of us in their prayers through Mothers extended illness.
