Obituary: COLUMBIA A Mass of Christian burial for Harry Howard Wills, 96, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. , 3, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with entombment following in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. , 2, 2015 at Dunbar , Devine Street Chapel, with visitations following until 7:00 p.m. Mr. Wills died , 31, 2015. Born in Ansted W.Va., he was a son of the late Randolph Burroughs Wills, Sr. and Grace Ferguson Wills. He was a graduate of Marshall and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a naval aviator flight instructor. Mr. Wills was the owner of Southern Table and Bedding since 1951 in Columbia and retired as a traveling salesman during his working career from Southern Cross Industries. He was considered to be a true gentleman by everyone. Mr. Wills loved golf and his family dearly. He enjoyed family vacations to Sea Island, Ga. and trips with his friends to Cloistor in Sea Island, Ga. Mr. Wills was a lifetime member of Columbia Country Club and a charter member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving are his sons, H. Howard Wills, Jr. (Ahava) of Hawaii, Stephen R. Wills of Folly Beach; daughter, Karen W. Lanier (George) of St. Matthews; son, James B. Wills (Teri) of Greenville; daughter, Deborah W. Powell (Scott) of Georgetown; grandchildren, Jack W. Haile, Sr. of Myrtle Beach, E. McCall Wills of Hawaii, Harrison Wills of Wash., Meredith Wills of Greenville, Scottie Powell of Beaufort, Forrest Powell of Georgetown, Brian Wills of Greenville, Ramana Wills of Hawaii; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Haile of Myrtle Beach and Elle Wills of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Jeanette W. Wills; daughter, Joanne Ehrlich; two sisters; and a brother. |

Obituary: Memorial services for Mrs. Eleanor Isobel Willows will be held at 3 pm on , 17, 2012 at All Saints Anglican Church under the care of George and Cremation . Mrs. Willows, 72, of Aiken, died , 11, 2012 at her residence after an illness. A daughter of the late Gilbert and Nellie Jenkinson Williams, she was born in Yorkshire, England, and had lived in Aiken since 2003. She became a State Registered Nurse, graduating at the Royal of for England and Wales, and was a nursing gold medal winner at Doncaster Royal Infirmary in Yorkshire. She married journalist Terry Willows in 1961 and came to the United States with their three children in1976, spending 27 years in Southern California before coming to Aiken in May, 2003. In Aiken, she was active in buying and selling antiques. She and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin brother, Richard Williams. She is survived by her husband, Terry Willows of Aiken; sons, Nicholas Willows of Gloucestershire, England and Desmond Willows (Rebecca) of Santa Barbara, California; a daughter, Louise Gonzalez of Apex, NC; grandchildren Justin and Sophia Gonzalez of Apex, NC and their father, Ivan Gonzalez of Los Angeles; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harry and Willows of Lincoln, England, Ron and Marion Hodson of London, England; nieces and nephews Paul & Jane Hodson, Elizabeth Watson, Lisa, Martin and Stephen of England; grand niece and nephew, Sasha & Danny of England. Please join the family following the service for refreshments and a celebration of Eleanors life in the church hall. Obituary: COLUMBIA - A Requiem Mass for William “Bill” Willoughby, II, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 7, 2015, at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. The family will receive friends in the parish hall following the service. A service will also be held at 3:00 p.m. , 7, 2015, in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community. Dunbar , Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Willoughby died , 27, 2015. Born in Birmingham, Ala., he was a son of the late William Willoughby and Marion Louise Hart Willoughby. He graduated from MIT with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and the University of California-Berkeley with a Master’s in Nuclear Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve Chemical Corps reaching the rank of Major. Mr. Willoughby, P.E., served as Senior Nuclear project manager for SCE&G and supervised the design and construction of the V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant in Jenkinsville. Until his retirement, Mr. Willoughby worked as a consulting engineer and project manager with Stone & Webster Corporation, headquartered in Boston, Mass. As a lifelong Episcopalian, Mr. Willoughby served as Vestry, Junior and Senior Warden at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church of Columbia and Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Weston, Conn. He also served as a delegate to the Diocesan Conventions, both in Upper South Carolina and Connecticut. He served as lector, lay reader, chalice bearer, and eucharistic visitor at Good Shepherd. He was also involved in summer and local projects with Works, member of Savannah River Site (SRS) Citizens Advisory Board, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Nuclear Society, Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi, and Past Commodore Columbia Sailing Club. Surviving are his wife, Doris L. Willoughby of Columbia, and son, The Very Reverend Dr. William Willoughby, III (Mary) of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren, Mary K. Willoughby, Colleen E. Willoughby both of Savannah, Ga., and William Willoughby, IV of Atlanta, Ga. He was predeceased by his brother, Julius Hart Willoughby. Memorials may be made to Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 1512 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201. |

Mrs. Willoughby was born 21, 1932 in Atlanta, GA and passed away on , 10, 2015. She was a daughter of the late George H. Lindsey and Lucille Crawford Lindsey. Her husband of more than sixty years, William Willoughby II died in of this year. Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, Mrs. Willoughby is survived by her son, The Very Reverend Dr. William Willoughby, III (Mary) of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Katie, Colleen and William Willoughby and sister, Mary L. Mason of Lawrenceville, GA, nieces, nephews and their children. Doris career in nursing began with her qualification at Georgia Baptist Hospital in 1953. Dedicated to learning and her profession, she continued on to receive a Bachelors and Masters of from the University of South Carolina. She was committed to public health and wellness all of her career serving finally as an instructor in the clinical nursing unit of the BSN program at USC Columbia. One of her great passions was the rising and training of Samoyed dogs and had to her credit three AKC Champions. She was a dedicated and active Episcopalian and longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Columbia, where memorial gifts in her name may be sent. Caughman-Harman , Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. |
