Obituary: Lt. Col. Ross Onley Weed – Irmo Ross Onley Weed, 82 of Irmo died , 16, 2015. A Celebration of Life will be held at Union United Methodist Church in Irmo on , 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Wayne Horne assisted by Rev. Randall Bean and Rev. Mitchell Houston . Visitation will be , 18, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Dunbar Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Following the burial family will receive friends in Wesley Hall at the church. Serving as active pallbearers will be stepgrandsons, Ryan Foster Calvin Mitchell, Mitchell Lyon Rainsford, Marc Benton Burger, Richard Grant Mitchell, John Lewis Rainsford, and friend, Ralph Thomas (Tony) Peake. Honorary pallbearers will be James (Jimmy) Leitner, Gordon Hipp, Terrell (Terry) Bouknight, Phillip Lawrence Fore, Charles Randolph (Randy) Snow, John D. Jones, Patrick Bouknight, Michael (Mike) Higgins, Dwight Nunamaker Derrick, James (Jimmy) Satterfield, Jason Williams, the McDonalds Coffee Group, and the Aline Leitner School Class. Born in Irmo, he was the son of the late Herbert and Pauline Onley Weed. He was a graduate of Irmo High School, a graduate of Clemson Agricultural of South Carolina in 1955, and a lifetime member of IPTAY. He was a Lt. Col. in the United States Army and served in the Army Reserve for over twenty- five years. Ross received an Award of Excellence from the United States Army in 1971. He was an active member of the Retired Officers Association. Before his retirement in 2013, Ross was the founder and owner of Rocky Creek Nursery. He was also a member of the South Carolina Nurserymen’s Association. Born and raised in Union United Methodist Church, Ross was a lifetime member. He served at various levels including school teacher, usher, and service on the church board. Ross was active in many other church activities as well. His passion was his school class where he was very active and involved, and he also enjoyed spending time with the class members outside of church. Ross was a member of the St. Andrews-Irmo Sertoma Club. He was the most long standing senior member and has been a participant in all of their activities. He participated in all of the fund-raising activities both financially and by devoting his time to the club. He was honored for his participation and achievements with various recognitions including, but not limited to the Sertoma GEM award, the Tribune Award, and the Senator award. Survivors include his wife, Jonnie Mitchell Weed; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Jeffrey Weed and Andrea Weed of Irmo and Ross Gregory Weed and Carla Weed of Hemet, California; brother Herbert Franklin Weed, Jr. of Columbia; two granddaughters, Lauren Elaine Weed and Cariann Jacqueline Weed; one grandson Sean Jeffrey Weed; stepson, Richard Arden Mitchell, Jr. and wife Robin of Mt. Pleasant; stepdaughters, Melissa Mitchell Rainsford and husband Holmes of Columbia and Tina Mitchell Burger of Irmo; five stepgrandsons and three stepgranddaughters; and special family friend Kent Van Slambrook, wife Julie, and daughters Vanessa and Jackie of Lake Wylie. Ross was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline McNeill Weed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 705, Irmo, SC 29063 and/or Lighthouse Hospice, 110 Oak Park Drive, Irmo, SC 29063. Obituary: Brady Tripp Davis Weed, III, 37, of Lexington, passed away , 13, 2011. He was born 31, 1974, in Columbia. A graduate of Irmo High School, Tripp attended Wofford on a football scholarship, where he earned a bachelor of arts in business economics in 1996. He worked in the financial services industry for 15 years, and began his career with Federated Investors, most recently working as a partner and financial advisor with James M. Dye & Associates. He was a member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church and grew up attending Ashland United Methodist Church. Tripp was a member of several professional organizations, and volunteered as an assistant coach in the Lexington Youth Football League. Tripp is survived by his beloved wife, Alicia Goode Weed; his cherished children Drew, Aydan, and Cale; parents, Brady Weed, Jr., and Debbie N. and David Turbeville; sister, Lauren (Adam) Way; brothers, Travis (Allison) Weed and Scott Turbeville; father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Brenda Goode; stepbrothers, Howard and Dean Henry; grandmothers, Anita Derrick Weed and Nancy Nunn Hathaway; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his stepmother, Dell Eleazer Weed; and grandfathers, Brady Davis Weed, Sr., Don Nunn, and Len Hathaway. He was a loyal and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, family member and friend who will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
