Obituary: Patricia Margaret Ward Wilkerson, 82, of Norman, was born 21, 1932, in Oklahoma City to Carl S. and Monta M. Ward. She died , 11, 2014, in Norman. Mrs. Wilkerson graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1950, and that same week, she got married and started her first job. She was married to Charles R. Wilkerson for 52 years until his death in 2003. Together, they owned and operated Wilkerson Electric Inc. in Oklahoma City for 38 years. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Mrs. Wilkerson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; brothers Carl B. and James G. Ward; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Anna Wilkerson; and brother-in-law, Donald Wilkerson. She is survived by her son, Robert C. Wilkerson of Norman; daughter, Susan P. Caldwell of Edmond; five grandsons, Anthony, Robert Jr. and Daniel Wilkerson, Kyle and Trent Caldwell; four great-grandsons; brother, Grant P. Ward of San Jose, Calif.; sister-in-law, Connie Ward of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Sue Wilkerson of Norman; sister and brother-in-law Marlene and Gene Spence of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. at Denver in Norman under the direction of Primrose . |

Obituary: Opal Laverne Wilkerson, 91, returned to her heavenly home on 26, 2015. Opal passed peacefully at the Purcell in the comfort of hospice nurses and loved ones. Opal was born 22, 1924. She was the daughter of r and Winnie Jones. She was the third born and was one of several children. Opal attended Washington schools and worked in the fields where she met the love of her life, Preston. He once asked permission to kiss her under a shade tree and he received a smack, not on the lips, but from the back of her hand by this Feisty gal!! Late that , when she had enough money saved, she went to her parents and asked for their blessing to be married. Opal and Preston we're married 22, 1941. Preston soon after entered the military and the fiery newlywed rented a tiny house in Washington and worked odd jobs to keep it going while her husband was away. Preston returned home on honorable discharge in 1943 and he reunited with his bride. From then he went to seminary school and became a pastor of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Preston and Opal spent the remainder of their lives traveling the United States and Mexico setting up churches and preaching God's Word. It was always a delight to listen to Opal tells stories of the places they had been, and the lives that they had touched, and the beautiful journey that they shared together. Preston and Opal were never able to have children of their own, they tried to adopt on a few occasions but sadly they were never successful. Preston and Opal returned to the Washington area in the mid-80s to retire, where they were fortunate to purchase property across the street from the house Opal grew up in, not far from that shade tree where Preston tried to steal his first kiss. Preston and Opal we're a very a precious couple, Opal was a diligent and loving wife; She was always by Preston side serving him and working with him and whatever he decided to do, they loved to work outside in their flower beds and enjoy nature. As his health was declining with Parkinson's, Preston was confined to a wheelchair; you could always see Opal At 11:30 each day pushing him to the senior citizen center where they share their lunch. Opal lost the love of her life in 2005. She remained at home for several years under the daily care of loving neighbor; she was a blessing to all she came in contact with. She later moved to Westbrook Gardens assisted living center and then to the Purcell care center. Opal was a beautiful soul and even up into the 90s still had an ornery twinkle in her eye and a big beautiful comforting smile; she was always full of compliments and kindness, you would never visit her home or her to come to yours, without her bringing you something along and always something special for the children. Opals life was a perfect testament to everyone, on what a Christian woman and Godly wife is to look like. In speaking with friends regarding Opal, after her passing, several of them described her as Perfect. Heaven has received an angel, her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who dearly loved her and she will be greatly missed. |
