Obituary: Leo G. Witwer, age 91 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:55 P.M. 31, 2016 at the State of the Heart Hospice Greenville, Ohio. He was born 29, 1924 in Darke , Ohio and the son of the late Harley and Myrtle (Cassel) Witwer. Leo was retired from Delco Products/General Motors of Dayton, Ohio in 1979 where he had been employed as an accountant. He was a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart. A member of the Oakland Church of the Brethren, former member of the Gettysburg School Board, Delco Products 25 year Club, former board member of the Darke AAA, Darke Jury Commission, Treaty City Shuffleboard Club, Greenville V.F.W., American Legion, Elks , Eagles and Moose Lodges. Also a 70 year member of the Gettysburg Masonic Lodge and a member of the Leisure Acre Park of Sebring, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Waldo Witwer. Leo is survived by his wife Jeanne M. (Ruth) Witwer of Greenville. were married 12, 1947. Also his children Michael L. (Charlotte) Witwer of Huntsville, Georgina (Jim) Shahan of Englewood and Brian L. (Tammy) Witwer of Tipp City; grandchildren Andy (Katrina) Shahan, Jeff (Andrea) Witwer, Mollie Trupp, Sherry (Brian) Goss , Matthew Witwer, Michael Witwer and Megan Witwer; great grandchildren Kassie, Addison, Teddy, Wyatt, Landon, Waylon, Eve and Lily as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:30 AM 9, 2016 in the Zechar Bailey Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Todd Reish and Pastor Bill Kidwell co-officiating. Burial will be held in the Gettysburg . There will be Full Military Honors conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard on in the funeral home. The family will receive friends on 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. The Gettysburg Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service on at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Oakland Church of the Brethren Bradford, Ohio. |

Obituary: Helen Maree. Witwer, age 94 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:35 P.M. 1, 2015 at the Brethren Retirement Community Greenville, Ohio. She was born 14, 1920 in Miami Ohio and the daughter of the late Floyd and Goldie (Martin) Maurer as well as her step father Daniel C. Kniesly. Helen grew up in the Gettysburg, Ohio area and graduated from GHS in 1938. She married Waldo Emerson Witwer. in 1942 and they were married 67 years. Helen retired in 1986 following 17 years of employment at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was a lifelong member of the Oakland Church of the Brethren Bradford, Ohio where she served in various capacities including being a deacon, Dinner Theater, and cooking for the Old German Baptist Brethren Annual Conferences. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, husband, son in law J.D. Weaver, Brothers Richard Maurer and Floyd Maurer and half-brother Donald Kniesly.
