Obituary: WITT, Rose Marie (née Braun) passed away , 17, 2015. She lived a life fully realized as a patriot, educator, devoted wife of 65 years and loving mother of five children. Rose was born in Detroit, Michigan, 21, 1919 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Seton Hill . At the outbreak of World War II, she sought to join the American Red Cross. Being a young woman of thin stature, her own mother had to sew silver dollars in the lining of her skirt so that she would meet weight requirements. Stationed at a military base in Foggia, Italy, she met her future husband, Clyde Witt, a member of the 15th Air Force, who piloted B 17 (Flying Fortress) bombers. Theres was an improbable relationship, she a northern Catholic, he a southern Baptist. But love triumphed. settled in Toledo, Ohio, where Clyde was a founding partner of Airco Aluminum, a producer of aluminum extrusions. In 1964, the company was sold and the couple subsequently moved to Plainwell, Michigan, where Clyde became president of Angle Steel, subsequently acquired by Kewaunee Scientific. Rose became a fourth grade teacher at Starr Elementary School. A lifelong learner, she earned a masters degree from Western Michigan University while in her fifties. Later, the couple moved to Dayton, Ohio, Clyde passing away in 2012. Rose remained an active observer of public affairs and a frequent writer, often crafting poems in celebration of friends and relatives. Rose Marie is survived by her children and their spouses, David (Roberta), William (Melinda), Tom (Sharma), Elizabeth (Bill) Goodwin, John (Kimberly); grandchildren, Sandy (Tim) Lutz, Casey and T.J. (Joyce) Goodwin, Dan, Matthew, Jesse and Hannah Witt; greatgrandchildren, Zachary, Olivia, Ian, and Mia Lutz, and Logan Goodwin and sister-in-law Jackie Witt. Her brother Glenn Braun, brothers-in-law Richard Witt and James Harris, and sisters-in-law Marguerite Braun and Elizabeth Harris preceded her in passing. Cremation has taken place to be followed by private interment at Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum, Farmington, Michigan. A gathering of friends and family in celebration of Rose Marie will take place 2:00 pm afternoon, 28, 2015 at Randall Residence, 6400 South Rd. 25 A, Tipp City, Ohio, 45371. He is survived by His Wife For Life and Permanent Date Jeannie of 18 years; Sons Adam (Kerstin), Ian (Stefanie), and Ryan (Kara); Grandchildren Lyle, Ezra, Emerson, Neko, and Norah.
