Obituary: Eugene us Woodlief Gene Eugene us Woodlief died Nov. 30, 2014. He was born Nov. 12, 1932 in Granville , NC to Lillie Belle Wrenn and Roy Henderson Woodlief. Gene was the youngest of eleven children. He is survived by two siblings, Watson Woodlief of Jacksonville, FL and Mabel Cash of Asheville, NC. Gene married Barbara Rae Allen of Shelby, the love of his life, on Feb. 8, 1959. were happily married for fifty-five years. Gene and Barbara have three children, Virginia Wrenn Woodlief of Charlotte, NC; Eugene us Woodlief, Jr., and his wife Linda of Surfside Beach, SC; Jeffrey Craig Woodlief of Charlotte, NC; and two grandchildren, Matthew Woodlief of a, GA and Haleigh Woodlief of Waxhaw, NC. Genes family will greet friends on , Dec. 4, 2014, from Noon-1p.m. at the McEwen-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, in Charlotte, followed by his memorial service at 1p.m. Reverend Jim Lytle will officiate. A reception in the funeral home will follow his service. Gene was an extraordinary athlete, lettering in all sports in high school in Oxford, NC. He was awarded a football scholarship to Elon University. His college education was interrupted by the Korean War. being discharged from the Army, he attended N.C. State University. He began working as a surveyor for N.C. D.O.T. in 1958, and shortly thereafter was hired by Superior Stone Co., later known as Martin Marietta Materials where he retired after forty-plus years. He began his career as a surveyor-prospector and retired as the District Sales Manager in Charlotte, NC. Gene was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Carmel Country Club where he loved playing golf with his friends. Above all, Gene was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at CMC's Rehabilitation in Charlotte, and The Pavilion at Brightmore for the wonderful and compassionate care Gene received during the last two months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Foundation, or the charity of one's choice. Obituary: Caleb Marshall Woodlief, 22, passed away unexpectedly 22, 2015. He was born 15, 1992 in Raleigh, the cherished son of Dusty and Sandra Woodlief. Caleb attended St. Timothys School, Broughton High, and graduated from Middle Creek High School in 2011 after his family relocated from Raleigh to Apex. While working part time for three years as a technical support representative for a software firm, Caleb completed his sophomore year of college and aspired to work in the Oil and Gas Industry as an Industrial Engineer. Caleb loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting at Brinkleyville Hunt Club, 4-wheeling, and spending time with his beloved grandfather. From a very early age, he enjoyed many days on the coast of NC boating and fishing with his father, family, and friends. Caleb was very family-oriented and loved the traditions that brought family together for special occasions; his laughter and sense of humor brought joy to all around him. Caleb is survived by his parents Dusty and Sandra Woodlief; sister, Kendall. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Joe and Barbara Parrish; paternal grandmother, Barbara Woodlief, all of Raleigh, as well as his uncles: Kent Parrish and Joel Todd Woodlief; aunt, Dana Stephens, and a large extended family. Calebs viewing, visitation, and funeral service will be held , 28, 2015 at St. Timothys Episcopal Church, 4523 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, 27609. Viewing in the church parlor from 10:30 to 11:30 am; visitation from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm in the chapel, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
