Obituary: Mr. Johnny Edward Wilson, 93, of Valdese passed away 13, 2015 at Burke Hospice and Palliative following a period of declining health. Mr. Wilson was born 28, 1922 in Burke to the late Edward Lee Wilson and Fannie Williams Wilson. He was a charter member of Morganton Freedom Church of God. Mr. Wilson joined the United States Army serving in WWII, with time spent in Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines, and Po Valley. During his time in the service he received five bronze service stars and one bronze service arrowhead. He was also a member of the Valdese American Legion. Mr. Wilson will be remembered as a man who not only served his country, but served the Lord and his family; who have never heard him curse. He worked very hard as a supervisor at Drexel Heritage. In his free time Mr. Wilson enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He also coached his sons Kiwanis little league baseball team at Morganton Recreation. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Carl Lester Wilson, Earl C. Wilson, Kenneth Wilson, Vernon Wilson, and Clarence Wilson; and sister Wilma Wright. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years Geneva Reid Wilson; his son, Rodney Lee Wilson and wife Amanda of Hickory; grandchildren, Cole Wilson and wife Lauren, Meadow Leigh Wilson, and Dreama Alexis Wilson; great grand children Reece Wilson and Hadley Wilson; brother, Howard Wilson and sister, Mary Ellen Leonhardt. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Heritage Service with the Rev. Todd Phillips and Rev. David Orders officiating. Interment will follow the service at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton. The family will receive friends prior to the service on from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Heritage Service in Valdese. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative at 1721 Enon Rd. Obituary: Mr. Franklin H. Wilson, age 71, of Waynesville, passed away at his home on 18, 2013. He was born in Hendersonville to the late Walter H. and Viola Steele Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Timothy Brian Wilson and a brother Gary Richard Wilson (POW-MIA) during the Korean War. Mr. Wilson worked as an electrician for forty eight years and retired from Winthrop in Rock Hill, SC. retirement, he and his wife moved to Waynesville where he continued to work part time as an electrician. He loved to fish, camp and enjoyed gardening. His greatest joy was his family. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of fifty one years, Ruby C. Wilson of the home; sons Gary Franklin Wilson of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeffrey Clarkston Wilson and his wife Jamie of Fort Mill, SC, Stanley Allen Wilson; his daughter Lisa Joann Wilson of Hendersonville; brothers Donald Eugene Wilson of Rock Hill SC, Hoyle Lee Hallman of Fort Mill, SC; sisters Bernice Faulkenberry, Ruth Matthews both of Lancaster, SC, Ophelia Holbert of Flat Rock; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Obituary: 1932 - 2017 Candler - Monteen A. Wilson, 84, of Candler, passed away on , 27, 2017, at her residence. She was a native of Cherokee and a daughter of the late Enoch N. and Mae (Stiles) Allen of Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Wilson, to whom she was married for fifty-eight years. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen A. Taylor of Candler and Geraldine A. Sanders of Columbia, TN. Surviving are her sons, Glenn Wilson (Carolyn) and Ricky Wilson of Candler, as well as a grandson, John Wilson (Tammy) also of Candler; granddaughters, Misty Deyo (Eddie) and Christy Frisbee (Mark), as well as four great grandchildren, Evan and Claire Deyo and Benjamin and William Frisbee all of Raleigh; four sisters, Shirley A. Griffith of Murphy, Jane A. Barnett of Marietta, GA, Eula A. Moore (Wendell) of Hayesville, and Linda A. White (Jim) of Clyde; one sister-in-law, Nancy Wilson, of Candler, and several nieces and nephews. graduating from Hiawassee Dam High School, where she was valedictorian of the class of 1949, Monteen moved to the Morgan Cove Community in Candler, where she resided until her death. In 1967, she graduated with highest honors from the Licensed Practical Program at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community . Shortly thereafter, she began working as an LPN at Memorial Mission Hospital where she worked until her retirement twenty years later. She was a member for sixty-seven years at Ridgeway Baptist Church where she taught Vacation Bible School for several years and was a faithful member of the Nannie Muse School Class as long as her health would allow her to attend. She always had a servants heart and stood ready to help a family member, friend, or neighbor anytime there was a need. She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, and crocheting. her retirement, she enjoyed camping in Oconee, SC, with her husband and grandchildren as well as traveling with Christian Tours. She especially enjoyed being accompanied by her grandson on trips to Disney World, Washington, D.C. and Branson, MO. services will be held on , 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Candler with Rev. Jack Collins officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at the residence at 38 Cold Mountain Drive in Candler. would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Susan Passmore, Sandra Epley, and Karen Wilson, whose care and devotion was such a comfort to her during her declining health.
