Obituary: Jack Earl Willis, 85, of Valdese, was a beloved son, brother, father, and proud grandfather who loved his family, church, and community, passed away 18, 2015 at Carolina Rehab of Burke following a period of declining health. Mr. Willis was born on 12, 1929 in Mitchell to the late Rev. Thomas Jefferson Willis and Lena Bartlett Willis, the oldest of 7 children. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict for 4 years as a medic and Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a faithful member of Valdese First Baptist Church for 54 years serving as a Deacon, School Teacher, and a member of the choir. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Willis He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lynn Willis of Valdese; his son, Dennis Willis and wife Sherry Boone-Willis of Morganton; his daughter, Anita Brittain and husband Micol Brittain of Knoxville, TN; two grandsons, Micol Scott Brittain and Jason Brittain both of Knoxville, TN; three sisters Sena Mae Gouge, Kate Murdock, Margaret Wilson; and two brothers, James Willis; Joe Ray Willis. Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. 20, 2015 at Valdese First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Barry Keys officiating, and military honors provided by Caldwell Veterans Honor Guard and the N.C. National Guard. Interment will follow at the Bear Creek Baptist Church , Bakersville, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:45 A.M. at Valdese First Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative , 1721 Enon Rd. Obituary: Hilda Stone Willis, 86, peacefully passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior on 19, 2010. She was born on 11, 1924 in Wake Co., NC to her parents the late Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh and Vivian Upchurch. Hilda retired from NC State University from the Chemistry Department. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, but most importantly for her love to her family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her children, daughter Virginia and her husband Ronald Poole of Cary, son James Stone and his wife Diane of Mocksville, NC; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her 2 sisters and 1 brother. She was predeceased by her husband Joel Lee Stone. The family will receive friends on 22 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Mitchell , 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Interment at Briercreek Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Amedisys Hospice, 220 New Fidelity Court, Garner, NC 27529 or to the Wake EMS, in memory of Hilda.
