Obituary: Edith Long Williams, of Mint Hill, NC, 98, passed away 16, 2015, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. She was born in Chesterfield , SC, May 21, 1916, to the late William David and Blanche Huntley Long. She married Leonard us Williams 1, 1941. Ediths beloved Leonard died on 21, 2005. She was also preceded in death by their daughter, Ruth Annette Williams. Edith is survived by daughters, Helen Williams Huneycutt (Kenneth Huneycutt, deceased), Jane Williams (George Singleton), Doreen Williams, and Iris Williams Norton (John Norton). She is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The grandchildren and their spouses and children are Thomas Huneycutt (Robin Supko Huneycutt and children Emily and James), Jen Singleton Richeson (Brian Richeson and child Orin), Laura Norton Roberts (Chris Roberts and children Brianna Hawkins and Ian and Marley), Elizabeth Norton Lotz (Ron Lotz and children Challen and Hayden), Daniel Norton (Lauren White Norton and children Celia and Marian), and James Norton. Three siblings survive: Martha Long, Carlton Long (Eloise Leonard Long, deceased) and Maida Long McComb (Ellis McComb). Five siblings and four other in-laws preceded her in death: Kemp Long (AddieMae McGee Long), Nell Long York (John York), Ruth Long, Paul Long (Dorothy Mullis Long) and Donald Long (Colleen York Long). Three Williams in-laws survive her: Leonards sister Dorothy Williams Hartsell (Charles Hartsell, deceased) and brother, Hubert Williams (Betty Phillips Williams, deceased), and sister-in-law, Pat Widenhouse Williams (Roy Williams, deceased). Ten Williams in-laws preceded Edith in death: Lois Williams Keziah (Harry Keziah), Edna Williams Freeze (Oscar Freeze), Boyce Williams (Edna Long Williams), Everett Williams, Roy Williams, and Max Williams (Ola Mullis Williams). Numerous nieces and nephews survive Aunt Edie. Edith was an expert gardener, seamstress, cook and, most of all, caretaker of her family. She was skilled, industrious, resourceful, and faithful in all she did. Her legacy is her steadfastness, her strength of character, her hospitality to all, and her family. Visitation is set for 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. , 20, at McEwen Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, with a service at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House (a not-for-profit that accepts anyone, regardless of ability to pay), 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078; or to the Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
