Obituary: Vale - James Michael Mickey KW Wilfong, 61, died unexpectedly on , 28, 2011. Mickey was born 30, 1949, in Catawba , to the late James Wilfong and Thelma Gregg Wilfong. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Ethel Shuford, and an Aunt, Mary Wilfong. He was a lifelong resident of Plateau and a long distance truck driver for Lee Industries. He was a very active member of Plateau United Methodist Church and was known throughout the community as someone who would help you at a moments notice in any way he could. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shelia Sain Wilfong, of the home; his son, Michael Todd Wilfong and his wife Barbie, of Hickory, his daughter, Heather Cloer, and her husband Darren, of Hickory, one sister, Debbie Ferrell, and her husband Richard, of Hickory, three brothers, Dusty Wilfong, and his wife Becky, of Vale, Terry Wilfong, and his wife Sandy, of Plateau, David Wilfong, and his wife Belinda, of Newton; four grandchildren; Devin Wilfong, Miranda, Katrina, and Wade Cloer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children. The family will receive friends on , Feb 1st, 2011, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hickory . The funeral service will be held at Plateau United Methodist Church in Plateau, 3315 Scronce Rd, Vale, Feb 2nd at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Bobby Petree officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the church columbarium. At other times the family will be at the home of Shelia Wilfong. Obituary: Gastonia - J. Sidney Wilfong, 92, left this life on 19, 2013 with family by his side. A native of Catawba , he was the son of the late John Edwin and Lula Pearl Abernethy Wilfong. Mr. Wilfong was a United States Navy veteran and a lifelong member of First ARP Church in Gastonia, where he was a former Deacon. He was a graduate of Gastonia High School and liked to golf, fish and was a western square dancer for over 40 years. He danced with the Rebel Reelers and the Grand Spinners. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carol Jetton Irvin; daughter, Wanda W. Jones; sister, Mary Wilson; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Humphries and husband Jeff; great grandchildren, Tyler Humphries, Kylie Humphries, Allyson Sidney Humphries; stepchildren, Beth Irvin, John Irvin (Shannon Lovelady) and Duane Irvin (Kathy Ginn). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Clarene Hilton Wilfong; and brother, Earle A. Wilfong. A memorial service will be held 2pm at First ARP Church in Gastonia with Pastor Matt Kuiken officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. A golden heart stopped beating and hardworking hands were put to rest.
