Obituary: Dorothy Whitley, 83, of Nashville, NC, passed away 26, 2015 Dorothy was born in Rocky Mount to Alger and Mary Whitley on 2, 1932. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church, created prayer shawls for cancer patients, and participated in the cooking ministry. She enjoyed John Wayne movies, avidly followed The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless television dramas, reading, playing Fargle with family and friends, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. Her crochet skills were unmatched and she produced many works of art that are treasured by family and friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Alger and Mary, and her husband, Floyd Whitley. She is survived by her sister, Myrtle Steele of Stephenville, TX; son, Michael (Melinda) Armstrong; daughters, Lynne (Stephen) Register, Connie (John) Stoudenmire, and Penny (fiancé Ric Henson) Beacham; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Johnson in Rocky Mount on , 30, 2015 at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. service will be held at Johnson on , 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Blake Dempsey of Rock Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills .
