Obituary: Josephine Jo McSwain Wentzel, age 77 of Charlotte passed away 25, 2012. A visitation will be from 2:00-3:30PM with a service to celebrate her life to begin at 3:30PM at Durham Memorial Baptist Church, Dr. Gerald Bearden, Reverend Ryan Epley and Reverend Rick Schubert officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West . Mrs. Wentzel was born in Cleveland 10, 1935 daughter of the late Benjamin Palmer and Cecilia Padgett McSwain. She was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church, Joy School Class, was a graduate of Lattimore High School, class of 1952, was owner and operator of Humpty Dumpty Child , 5721 Tuckaseegee Road. She began playing the piano at age eleven at Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Shelby and had served as organist at Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte and as organist at Durham Memorial Baptist Church 37 years. She was member of the Charlotte Choral Society and was the Honorary Angel on the Singing Christmas Tree in 1992. Surviving are her husband of 60 years Kenneth (Zip) Wentzel Daughter, Kathy Epley (Randy) of Charlotte Sons,, Kenneth (Butch) Wentzel of Kansas City, Mo., Terry Wentzel (Beth Anne) of Charlotte, and Michael (Mick) Wentzel (Sherry) of Mooresville, NC Grandchildren, Kristien, Rebecca, Amy, Ryan, Matthew, Jordan, Kevin and Grant, great grandchildren, Maddox and Hailey. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons and Josh Cobb and honorary will be the Joy School Class. Sister, Jean Cabiness (Charles) of Shelby, NC. Obituary: William Simon "Bill" Wentz, 85, of Mint Hill, went to be with our Lord on , 2, 2014, at Clear Creek Facility. Mr. Wentz was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Flowe Wentz, his parents, Lewie and Ludy Wentz, also of Mint Hill, and one brother, Maurice L. Wentz of Baltimore, Maryland. He is survived by his sister, Helen Wentz Coleman of Jacksonville, NC; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Wentz was a mason and a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill. Along with his job, Mr. Wentz and his wife taught dancing for 40 years and made many, many friends doing what he enjoyed most. Mr. Wentz was a natural born entertainer that people loved. He will be greatly missed. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McEwen Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. , 4, at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ernest Gardner and the Rev. Lee Koontz officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Obituary: Robert Wesley Bob Wentz, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on , 9, 2016 at Novant Presbyterian Medical in Charlotte. A native of Charlotte, Mr. Wentz was born to the late Samuel David Wentz and Osee McWhirter Wentz on 21, 1925. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and retired as a captain with the Charlotte Fire Department after 31 years of service. Mr. Wentz coached little league baseball for the Charlotte Civitan League for many years. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. Mr. Wentz was formerly a member of Belmont Park United Methodist Church and a charter member of University City United Methodist Church. Mr. Wentz is survived by his wife Mary Conder Bibbie Wentz; children, Robert W. Wentz, Jr. (Cathy) of Matthews, Sandra House (Tom) of Mint Hill, Susan Elkins (Ron) of Mint Hill; sister, Bette Knight of Charlotte; grandchildren, Julie Wentz, Jill Story (Jonathan), Melissa Nichols (Stephan), Brad House (Jennifer), Wes Elkins, Tyler Elkins; great-grandchildren, Emily Nichols, Carolina Story; special brother-in-law, Bob Conder; special sisters-in-law, Joyce Helms, Betty Conder; many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., , 13 at University City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chad Cozad officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., morning at the church.
