Obituary: Lawrence Waldroup In Loving Memory Canton- Lawrence Junior Waldroup, age 89, passed away on , 20, 2014 at The stead. A native of Swain and a resident of Haywood , he was the son of the late Lawrence and Sally Messer Waldroup. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Reva H. Waldroup; a brother, Robert Waldroup; two sister, Norma Mae Meadows and Leatha Haney; and a grandson, Anthony Shane Gaddis. A US Navy veteran of WWII, he was stationed on the USS Santee during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the Order of the Golden Dragons and also served many years in the US Naval Reserves. Lawrence retired from the American Enka Corporation and was a member of Longs United Methodist Church. He was a man of many talents, including a love of bluegrass gospel music where he played bass for Hill Country and Way Side Bands. He enjoyed woodworking, horseback riding, flying airplanes, and on many occasions he could be found riding his Harley motorcycle. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Gaddis and her husband, Robert, of Anderson, SC; a grandson, Shawn Gaddis; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Anthony Shane Gaddis; special nieces, Linda (Pressley) Barnham and her husband, Gary, and Robin Ann Howell and her husband, Kirby; and special friend, Lorean Wood. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 24, 2014 at Longs Community with Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Obituary: Brenda Kaye Waldroup, age 69, of Marion, NC died , 8, 2014 at Stone Creek & Rehab surrounded by her loving family. She was born 13, 1945 in Avery , NC to the late Leonard and Lena Davis. Brenda formerly worked at Tultex as a seamstress. She was a good mother who loved baking and sewing. She was a very loving and caring person to everyone she met. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Clifford Waldroup and her brother, Dennis Davis. Surviving Brenda are one son, Johnny Waldroup and wife, Teresa of Marion, NC; two grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor and husband, Michael and Jonathan Waldroup all of Marion, NC; two brothers, Wayne Davis and wife, Dee of Morganton, NC and Bobby Davis of VA; five sisters, Juanita Waldroup and husband, Ernest of Marion, Carolyn Waldroup of Morganton, NC, Revonda Hubbard and husband, Kyle of VA, Gladys Dutton and husband, Mike of Morganton, NC and Patsy Dutton and husband, Joe of Morganton, NC; and many nieces and nephews and special friends. A Service will be held at 12:00 PM on , 10, 2014 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey in Marion, NC with Dr. Tom Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Murphys Chapel .
