Obituary: Mr. Martin Williams, the son of the late Moses Williams and Ebnuta Catherine Williams in Nigeria, passed away on 2, 2014 in Nigeria. He faithfully served the Lord in both Nigeria and the United States and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Lakewood, NJ. Martin, later moved to New York City and achieved his Bachelor of Arts degree at Baruch , The City University of New York, in Biology. He graduated from St. Finbarrs High School, Lagos, Nigeria. He previously worked at Argus Chemical Corporation and Huls America as a chemist. Martin enjoyed Nigerian food and Nigerian music and loved to dance. Martin loved his family and friends. We are all going to truly miss him. He was very kind and thoughtful. Martin was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Elizabeth Iruhrue; elder brother, Scott Phillip Williams; and junior brothers, Alexander Williams and Joseph Williams. Those left to cherish his loving memories are his son, Martin Fernando Williams; his daughter, Martina Williams; fiancée, Tititilola Siwoku; siblings: Dr. Louis Williams, Phoebe Dipeolu and husband, Edmund Williams and wife, Florence Edeki and husband, Patrick Williams and wife, Evelyn Mensa-Bonsu and husband, Theresa Agbodu and husband, Martina Williams and Kingsley Williams, Roland Williams and wife, Albert Williams and wife, George Williams and wife, Anderson Williams and wife, and Nancy and husband, Femi Ogunlade and wife; a host of nieces: Helen Olufemi, Henrietta Delalu, Chiyere Odiachi,Funmilayo Dipeolu, Linda Towolawi, Efe Ogunnaiya, Nike Lawal, Sandra Ikweme, Gwendolen Williams, Claire Agbobu, Gloria Williams; nephews: Dada Ajayi, Dayo Williams, Emeka Odiachi, Ikechuwu Odiachi, Segun Ajayi, Sese Williams Victor Williams, Femi Dipeolu, Omon Edeki and wife; and cousins: Philips Oriaran and Bola, Stella and husband, Maria Ologbosele and husband, Patricia Gegbefume, Denis Opene other Relatives and friends. services will be held on , 30, at 12PM at D'Elia , Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood in conjunction with a visitation from 9AM-12PM. Today we say goodbye to my immediate older brother and fifth son of Catherine and Moses Williams. The world will remember my brother as Martin, others as Ernest, and others as Tino \ a man who had a graceful heart. But those of us who loved him, and ache with his passing, know Martin Williams by the other titles he held: Father. Brother. Husband. Uncle Martin. Grandpa. Like so many others in the city where he worked for nearly over 40 years, knew him as a colleague, a mentor, and above all, as a friend. Though it is Martin's historic body of achievements we will remember, it is his giving heart that we will miss. He was a friend and colleague who was always the first to offer one a greeting with a big smile. He was a friend who was so adored by his colleagues, mentors, and friends for those decades. Martin was a brother who looked after not only his own children, but his siblings as well. He enrolled me in his high school, brought me to United States, and was able to convince me to move from New York City to Lakewood Township, NJ to live on the same street. Throughout my childhood, he was my guidance through primary to secondary school. We were like twin brothers. I was his chief adviser and sometimes mine. We do not know exactly how long we have to live. We cannot foresee the things we have to go through. Trials and tribulations will test us along the way. We don know what God has in store for us. What we can do is to live out our lives as best we can with purpose, love, and joy. We can use each day to show those who are closest to us how much we care about them, and treat others with the kindness and respect that we wish for ourselves. We can learn from our mistakes and grow from our failures. And we can strive at all costs to make a better world, so that someday, if we are blessed with the chance to look back on our lives here, we can know that we spent it well; that we made a difference; that our momentary presence had a lasting impact on the lives of others. For those of us who know Martin well, the passage of time will never heal his loss, but we have to carry on because our fore parents have taught us so, that there is still light to guide us in this world. We carry on. Martin has gone home now, guided by his faith and by the light of those that he has both loved and lost. At last, he is with them once more, leaving those of us living who grieve his passing with the memories he gave, the good that he did, dreams he kept alive, and enduring image - the image of a man smiling broadly, carrying on toward some new and wondrous place just beyond the horizon.
