Obituary: Howard D. Wilbur 99 3/4, a lifelong resident of Surry, NH, died peacefully, , 18, 2014, at his home in Surry with his wife, Linda, at his side. He was born in Surry, NH, 18, 1914, the son of Clifford and Ina (White) Wilbur. He was a lifelong farmer on the family farm. He was well known for his showing of his prize oxen and draft horses as well as competing in many oxen and draft horse pulling competitions throughout New England. He was an honorary life member of the Association of New England Ox Teamsters Incorporated. Mr. Wilbur loved attending the Cheshire Fair, something he did for the past 76 years without missing one event. He was a past member of the Surry Grange for many years. He enjoyed having a huge vegetable garden from which he shared the bounty with friends and family, and had a special affection for animals, the great of outdoors and nature as a whole. One of his favorite things to do was to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren; from as simple as going for rides for ice cream, going fishing, to traveling to Disney World. He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Linda P. (Burroughs) Wilbur of Surry; his three children, Susan B. Leach and her husband, Bruce, of Chateaugay, NY, David R. Miller of Surry and his friend Deb Wojtkielewciz of Walpole, Johnathan M. Miller and his wife Karole, of Battleboro, NC; two grandchildren, Lynn Marie Leach and Benjamin Leach, both of Chateaugay; a niece, Sylvia Makinen and her husband, Arnold, of Westmoreland, NH; nephew, Roger Wilbur, Sr. and his wife, Nancy, of Surry; brother-in-law, Victor Burroughs of Pennsylvania; two great-nephews; one great-niece; and four great-great-nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Deman Wilbur. A funeral service will be held , 24, 2014 at 10:00AM in the Church of the Nazarene, 55 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH. Rev. Dr. John F. Reilly, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Village , Village Road, Surry. Family and friends are invited to call on evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Foley , 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. Obituary: CLYDE E. WILBER CONCORD - Clyde E. Wilber, 95 passed away peacefully on , 28, 2014, in his sleep, at home with his loving family. Born in Belmont, MA, on 4, 1918, he was the son of the late, Harold and Bertha (Mullen) Wilber. He grew up in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1936. He then attended Boston University. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a Staff Sgt, and was assigned in the United States and then in the Pacific on Guam. On 22, 1942, he married Doris Mickalsen. discharge from the army he and his family moved to Concord where he started out working for Adams glass company. Soon he opened CEWilber on the corner of South St. and Clinton. He later built the company so there were 3 stores, in Concord and one in Durham. His stores joined the American hardware store chains. He later became treasurer then vice president of American Hardware Stores (later to become Servistar). He loved the hardware business and was ready and willing to help anyone and everyone. He retired at the age of 75. While working, he was active in the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Masons. He ran for public office and became an alderman for one term. He loved Concord and was most interested in making it a great place to live and work. He and his family are one of the original members of Wesley Methodist church. Clyde loved life and has always been known for his great sense of humor and until the very end he still could make people laugh. His family is very important to him and loved being able to get together with them. There were many family gatherings at the summer camp he built on Sandogardy Pond in Northfield. For many years, he and Doris wintered in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL. loved to travel and visited all over the United States as well as many parts of the world including Australia, the South Seas, South America, Europe and Scandinavia. Members of his family include; his wife, Doris (Mickalsen) Wilber of Concord, NH; 4 children, Jeffrey Wilber and wife Linda from Concord; Donna Boutilier and husband Murray from Rockledge, FL. Stephen Wilber of Naples Fl; and Allyson Worthington and husband Thomas from Bow, NH; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Clyde was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Laura Wilber, brother, Jack Wilber and sister-in-law, Muriel Wilber. SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on , 31, 2014, from 5:00 \ 8:00 PM at the Bennett , 209 N. Main Street, in Concord. A funeral service will be held on , 2:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Evans , in Bow, NH. Obituary: Daniel D. Wihby, 66, of Manchester, died 29, 2009 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack following a period of declining health. He was born in Manchester on 9, 1942, the son of Joseph H. and Freda (Attalla) Wihby. He was a lifelong resident of the city. He graduated from Bakersville Grammar School, Manchester High School Central, class of 1960 and the University of New Hampshire, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He earned his masters degree from Rivier in 1982. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion, Henry J. Sweeney Post #2 in Manchester. For many years, Dan served as an Assistant to United States Senator Judd Gregg in the Senators Manchester office. In the political seasons, he was Field Director for the Senators election campaigns. He also played key advisory and hands-on roles in many other campaigns, national, state, and local. Prior to his full-time association with Senator Gregg, he was also for a time employed with the State of New Hampshire Crime Commission and the New Hampshire Office of Emergency Management. Locally, he was an appointed member of the Manchester Board of Voter Registrars. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Philip and two sisters, Susan and Linda. Family members include many cousins, among them the David Wihby family of Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on , 1, 2009 in Our Lady of the Cedars Church, corner of Mitchell Street and Calef Road. Burial with military honors followed in St. Joseph , 448 Donald St, Bedford.
