Obituary: Nancy Marguerite Woody, passed away on 12, 2015 in Las Vegas, NV, at the age of 92. She was born on 31, 1922 in Fulton , Arkansas, the daughter of Farce Hammond and Myrtle Drusilla Foster. In 1940, she married Randle Woody. In late 1943, they moved to West Plains, MO with an infant daughter, where a second daughter and a son were born. Randle was working as a railroad section hand, and they moved on to Willow Springs and then Cabool a few years later. At the end of 1965, they moved to Lee’s Summit, MO, where she remained until 2014, when she went to assisted living in Henderson, NV. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Randle Woody, grandson Jonathan Woodbury and brother James Utah Foster. She is survived by her daughters Delores Woodbury of Las Vegas, NV and Judy Livingston of Spring, TX, her son Ron Woody of Manassas, VA, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Marguerite was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener. Her family enjoyed the fruits of her labor, fresh in the summer and home-canned in the winter. She enjoyed collecting rocks from places she visited to place in her flower gardens. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes for the family and making household items. Both she and Randle enjoyed travelling. Marguerite was a longtime and active member of the First Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit, MO, where she volunteered in the nursery for many years and helped out in the kitchen for special events. The Baptist Church had been a central element of family life in Cabool as well. It was her wish that contributions be made to World Hunger through the church in lieu of flowers. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, 2 NE Douglas St, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063 on 27, 2015 at 1:30 pm, preceded by visitation at 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US HWY 50, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086. |
