Obituary: Wesley Baxter Weddle passed away 26, 2013. He was born in 1926 in Stewartsville, Missouri, to parents Claudia E. and James A. Weddle. The family consisted of four sons and five daughters. Wess wife of over sixty-four years Ethel I. Weddle and their son Zachary, age fifty-five, preceded him in death. Wes is survived by his sons Stanley J. of Denver, Colorado, Wesley T. of Kansas City; daughter-in-law Terri of Kansas City; and daughter Jane A. and husband Craig Langenberg, who reside in Brooksville, Florida. He is also survived by his sister Donna and husband Joe Glenski of St. Joseph, Missouri; grandsons Travis Weddle; Dr. Nicholas Weddle, wife Keri, great-granddaughter Solibel; granddaughter Leigh Ann Weddle; grandsons Brian Weddle, Brett and Tyler Langenberg. Wes recognizes that any accomplishments he may have helped make on this earth are due to the influence, guidance and blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Father, God Almighty. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mount Moriah & Freeman on , 29. A Celebration of Wess life will be conducted at the South-Broadland Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. on , 1 at 7850 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah . Wes attended elementary school in Stewartsville, Missouri., Bliss Junior High School, and Central High School both in St. Joseph, Missouri. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, attended and graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri, and did graduate work at Central Missouri State University, University of Missouri at Kansas City, and Avila . Ethel and Wes were members of South-Broadland Presbyterian Church for fifty-six years and involved with the churchs education program as well as served as deacons and elders. He was a member of the Raymore Presbyterian Church at the time of his death. Wes was privileged to have served thirty-eight years in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School District ending his educational career during the year 1985 as a secondary school principal. In 1969, Wes assisted the Local Built-Roofers Union and Contractors, establish and apprentice-training program for its members and helped run the program for twenty years. The program received national recognition for effective training of roofer apprentices. During the years of the 80s, he and his wife formed a co-ed softball team composed of their sons and sons wives, daughter, nieces, nephews, and their young friends. This group played softball games within the Kansas City Parks & Recreation facilities for eleven years, was competitive, and members had a BALL. Wes, in retirement volunteered as an AARP-IRS Tax Counselor for the Elderly, counselor for Medicare-Medicaid concerns, and was able to assist many person with tax and Social Security concerns. Ten years was spent helping to clean up the highways, by-ways of a small section of Interstate 435, near their home. In year 1989, Wes, with the assistance of his very capable wife Ethel and a few dedicated mature interested men softball players, founded the Kansas City Metropolitan 50+ Softball League. Wes served as president of the organization for seventeen years and then was declared Chairman Emeritus. This group had, at one time, 700 men and women members, and information about the league may be found at www.kcseniorsoftball.com. Ethel and Wes visited seven foreign countries and have played softball together in four of those countries. this experience, they decided that they could play softball less expensively in the good ole U.S. of A. Obituary: Ethel I. (Rich) Weddle passed away 19, 2012. She was born 3, 1928, to parents Viola E. (Carpenter) Rich and Willard E. Rich. This family consisted of four daughters and four sons. Ethel lived in St. Joseph, MO, attended Spring Garden and South Park Elementary Schools and graduated from Benton High School in 1946. Ethel is survived by Wesley, her husband of 64 years, as well as sons Stanley J. of Denver, CO, Wesley T., Zachary J. and wife Terri of Kansas City; and daughter Jane Ann and husband Craig Langenberg, who reside in Brooksville, FL. Also surviving are grandsons, Travis Weddle, Dr. Nicholas Weddle, wife Kerri, and great-granddaughter Solebel, granddaughter Leigh Ann Weddle, grandsons Brian Weddle, Brett and Tyler Langenberg. Ethel is also survived by sisters Margaret Long, Dorothy Nurski, and brother Norman Rich. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., , 26 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman , 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. A celebration of Ethels life will be held at 2:00 p.m., , 28 at South-Broadland Presbyterian Church, 7850 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO (816-523-7326). their children were born, Ethel attended college in the evening and earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from Avila University in 1970. She then spent 18 years teaching kindergarten children in the Grandview, MO public schools. Many of her former students keep in touch with her. She has celebrated many family reunions, marriages and births with them. While teaching at Meadowmere Elementary School, some of her friends decided that they needed a Club, so Pam Pinkerton formed the Queen Bees. Members began playing Bingo and Bunko at their get-togethers and later the group branched out to do birthday celebrations, activities, and assisting others. The group is still going strong. Ethel bowled in many bowling leagues over the years and, during her mature years, bowled in many state and national Senior Olympic events as well as state and national bowling tournaments. During the 1980s, Ethel and Wes sponsored a co-ed softball team which played in the KCMO Parks & Recreation League. The team was composed of their sons, sons wife, daughter, nieces, nephews and their young friends. The team was competitive and they had a BALL. retirement, Ethel and Wes traveled extensively in the U.S. as well as seven foreign countries where they sometimes played softball. Ethel was a member of South-Broadland Presbyterian Church for 57 years where she taught church school classes, served as Deacon, Elder and was a member of the Women of the Church. She sewed with other ladies of the church making childrens and adult clothing as well as sundry items which were given to Childrens Mercy Hospital and Truman Medical for their patients. At the time of Ethels death, she was a member of the Raymore Presbyterian Church. enjoying living in their home in the Oakdell Subdivision of Kansas City, MO for 47 years, she and Wes decided that it was time for a move--too much upkeep. chose Foxwood Springs Living in Raymore, MO as they had friends residing there. have been at Foxwood for over four years and are happy there. Ethel has held memberships in the National Educational Association, the Missouri State Teachers Association, the Grandview N.E.A. Association, the Avila University Alumni Association, and board member of the Rainbow Pre-School, the Paseo Area Ecumenical Ministries and the Oakdell Holmes Association.
