Obituary: LaVerne Vern Wieferich \ With his loving family by his side, went to be with our Lord and Savior on , 30, 2015. Vern was born 20, 1931 in Alma, Michigan and worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years. His true calling was in his loving care for his family and neighbors. Vern answered the call and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved playing cards, playing the harmonica, dancing the Polka, fishing, and walking peacefully in the woods. Vern is survived by his wife, Mary (O'Brien) Wieferich; his children, Robin (Bob) Maxon, Jodi (Ken) Barber, Phil (Ruth) Wieferich, Amy (Tim) Toune, and Pat (Connie) Wieferich; 28 beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vern was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Agnus Wieferich and was one of 13 siblings, 3 of whom preceded him in death. services are scheduled for , 8, 2015 at 10:30 am at Saint Gerard Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing, Michigan. Visitation will be held on , 7, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm at the Gorsline Runciman , 900 E. Michigan, Lansing with the Rosary service at 2:30 pm and visitation on 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Saint Gerard Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association Lansing Michigan or the Ingham Medical Facility (ICMCF) at 3860 Dobie Road, Okemos, Michigan. The family would like to thank the compassionate, loving staff at ICMCF for their care. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman s, Lansing Chapel.
