Obituary: John E. Wieck was born on 3, 1931, in Beloit, Wisconsin to his parents Herman and Helen Wieck. His life was recently taken by a lengthy illness on 19, 2009. He died peacefully at home with family at his side. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Born and raised in Wisconsin, while a young boy, he attended Beloit High School, then joined the U.S. Air Force on the day the Korean War began. He traveled extensively during his tour in the Air Force, stationed in Germany for a time, and serving in various Asian countries, where he eventually met and married his wife, while overseas. He eventaully had three children along the way, two of whom preceeded him in death in 1990 and 2004. He has four wonderful granddaughters who were extremely close to him, a surviving daughter, and numerous nieces and nephews, of whom he was proud of. He also has a surving sister, Marva, located in the home state of Wisconsin. He enjoyed many activites over the decades, being a avid chess player for a time, playing games long distance with other individuals across the country. He enjoyed Sodoku, and Texas holdem, or he used to play all night card games whenever we would visit his parents. Loads of fun! He always enjoyed watching many sporting events like pro basketball, pro football and enjoyed keeping up with who was winning in Olympic events. His favorit teams were the Green Bay Packers (in his early days), and later with the Washington Redskins. He was a die hard Redskins fan, though many a game could cause a heart attack while watching it. His favorite sport, however, was the game of Soccer. He never actually played it as a child, but he made up for lost time taking his kids and grandkids to games. He eventually decided to help with coaching young ladies while his granddaughters played on teams. He got enormous satisfaction out of this, and oftentimes sponsored the equipment and bought bought videos and books to enhance the training for these girls. He took his grandkids to many professional soccer games, and created many memories in the process. He always looked forward to the next soccer game to watch. He found satisfaction in touching young peoples lives, and always preached the power of getting a higher education, and many of these kids now lead successful careers, of which he is proud of. He opened his heart to his wifes family back in Taiwan, and helped many of them immigrate to the U.S. to start families of their own. His in-law family suffered extreme hardships back in their native country, and his generosity salvaged many lives. Many of them have a more comfortable life as a result, and their children have succeeded as well. He was a radio operator in the Air Force and cryptographer/ communications operator during the Vietnam War, serving several months there. He also was stationed in Thailand briefly before coming home to his young family. 21 years in the military, he retired while stationed at Andrews AFB in Camp Springs, Maryland. He joined the U.S. Postal Service and proudly served for 20 years, both as a clerk and as an activist in the postal union as a regional vice president of the local union. He later retired, but remained an activist, joining the Libertarian party. He never failed to educate his children and grandchildren on constitutional rights. He was an active member of the NRA and second amendment rights for all, and was a steady sponsor of many law enforcement agencies. He was a very patriotic soul, and always hung a U.S. flag on designated holidays. He was the safekeeper of family flags and always folded them out of respect for his country. He was not one for the spotlight, rather he enjoyed a quiet, nobel existence. His wishes were to be cremated and placed alongside his children that preceeded him in death. Gravesite memorial services will be performed, along with military honors at Latemont memorial Gardens, in Davidsonville, Maryland at 10:00 AM on 28, 2009. arrangements were made through Huntt , 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland. We invite those who knew "Grandpa" to attend the graveside services on , 28, 2009. Directions can be accessed through Huntt . Anyone wishing to post memories of John can do so through this website, www.Mem.com. The family thanks you for any items added to celebrate his life. He will be dearly missed. |
