Obituary: Kung-Yeh Wang was born on 3, 1929 in ShenYang, China, as the youngest of 6 siblings. He graduated from Ming Ming Elementary School in 1941 and YuYing high school in 1947. Kung-Yeh attended Yanjing University in Beijing in 1947 for two years before he moved to the United States with his family in 1949. He graduated from Brown University in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1955, Kung-Yeh returned to Beijing, China to marry his childhood sweetheart YiFen Zhou. Together, they were married for 55 years and have two daughters and five grandchildren. Kung-Yeh was a loving husband and a devoted father. Upon his return to China, Kung-Yeh accepted a position as Professor of Mechanical Engineering and taught at the University of Petroleum in Beijing until 1982. He returned to the United States later that year and became an instructor at the University of Maryland, a position he would hold until 1990. He then worked as an engineer with the Transviron company for many years until his retirement in 2006. Kung-Yeh Wang was known by his friends and coworkers as a humble and knowledgeable person. He was a very well-regarded teacher and engineer whose resourceful and clever nature always enabled him to find ways to solve problems. But he was first and foremost a family man. He served as a living encyclopedia to his family, and provided continued moral support to his wife and daughters throughout his lifetime. He was also known for his terrific sense of humor and playfulness, and he forged strong relationships with all of his grandchildren. Kung-Yeh always carried a positive and optimistic attitude. Simply put, he loved life and his family and friends, and he was in turn loved by all of them. A memorial service will be held on Aril 2nd, 2011 at 3pm.
