Obituary: Tori Ayana Whittemore, 19, of Madison, and her unborn daughter Jovie Lynn Schinzel passed away unexpectedly 21, 2015 in Skowhegan, Maine. Tori was born 3, 1995 in Skowhegan, Maine, the daughter of Jana L. Peterson and Devin L. Whittemore. Tori graduated from Coburn Academy in Skowhegan in the class of 2013. She worked at Grins and Giggles Childcare in Cornville as a daycare assistant. She loved children, loved to read and she loved spending time with her family. She also loved to go jeeping. She was a special nauntie to her nephews. Tori is survived by her parents; Jana Peterson and Barrett Norton, her soulmate, partner in crime and best friend Ryan Schinzel, her sister Tayla and husband Mica LaGross, special sister Ali Currie, brothers; Jake, Jett and Joel, nephews; Carson and Brantley, grandparents; Jody and Pete Peterson and Sandra and David Whittemore, uncles; Cory and wife Laura Peterson, David, Duane and Deron Whittemore, special cousin and best friend Gage, cousins, Jordan, Amy, Spencer, Zachery, Alisha, Mariah, Cierrha, Drake, Chantel, Dylan, and Samantha and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Obituary: Skowhegan - Henry James Whittemore, 88, of Skowhegan passed away on 5, 2014 at his home in Skowhegan, Maine. He was born 10, 1925 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Alton L. Chuck Whittemore and Izetta Pearl Dore Whittemore. He lived in several places in Skowhegan including with his grandmother Whittemore from ages 2-6 on the Notch Road. He was the youngest of nine children: Altena Whittemore Cahill, Kendall Joseph Whittemore, Katherine Whittemore Giroux, Marguerite Whittemore Richardson, Flora Whittemore Zappala, Alton W. Whittemore, Carleton Whittemore and Warren Whittemore. Most of his younger years were spent happily exploring the many wonderful places in Skowhegan, including swimming in Wesserrunsett Stream and skating in Coburn Park. As a teenager, he worked for Senator Brooks Savage in his oil business and cutting ice on the Kennebec above the dam. He attended Skowhegan High School in the class of 1943, leaving school to go into the Army where he served with the 802nd Field Artillery Headquarters Battery as lineman and getting his GED from the University of Maine at Farmington upon his return. He and his four brothers were all in the service during the Second World War. He sailed into New York Harbor on his 21st birthday after having spent 2 ½ years in Europe including the Battle of the Bulge. He is a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. All five brothers joined the VFW together. He married Shirley Jean Stedman from Hartland on 5, 1947 and they have one daughter, Toni Jo Whittemore Blaisdell.He enjoyed roller skating and bowling. He was an excellent bowler, serving on many leagues while working in the various shoe shops. He was a Little- Way stitcher for Skow Mocc and later at Norrwock Shoe where he later became foreman. During his shoe shop days, he was a softball pitcher on the shop leagues. For a period of time, he clerked at Cross Hardware. He later ran heavy equipment for Vernard Stedman summers, spending the winter months as a crane operator for William Philbrick in the woods operations. He managed Whittemores Restaurant for a time when his brother was ill. When Scott Paper came to Skowhegan, he went to work for Daniels Construction in the blueprint room as Document Control Supervisor, staying on with Scott Paper and retiring from Kimberly Clark in 1990. He has been a faithful member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge for many years; he made Master Mason in 1969, Worshipful Master in 1974, Royal Arch Mason and Treasurer in 1972. He was High Priest from 1975 to 1989. He has been Illustrious Master in Mt. Moriah Council since 1979. He made Knight Templar in 1972 and Eminent Commander from 1977 to 1981. He became a member of the Past Officers Association in 1981 and the Knight York Cross of Honor in 1982. He was Past Illustrious Master of the Silver Trowel and a member of the Central Maine Shrine Club and the Kora Temple Shrine. He served as Priest of the Illustrious Order of Red Cross and received the Royal Arch Distinguished Cross. He has been treasurer and president of the Building Committee. He was an active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities such as trustee, President and Treasurer of the United Methodist Mens Club, Choir Member, Dinners Organizer, Methodist Diner Manager, special activities coordinator, float maker, and an active supporter of the church summer camp, Mechuwana, in Winthrop. For many years, he prepared and served the Bean Hole Dinners for the Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce. He played the trombone in the Community Band and was one of the lead tenors in the Lions Club musical Paint your Wagon as well as in the Carpenters Son. He also had been in the Community Chorus for many years. Henry was an avid supporter of his home town of Skowhegan and except for his service time, never strayed far. His mother died when he was 11 and he lived in many area homes during his childhood. As a teenager, he worked summers for the Malbon Brothers on their farm on the West Ridge Road. He enjoyed the companionship of the many teenagers who roamed the area, swimming in the Wesserrunsett, having a clubhouse in the local jail house and skating in Coburn Park, etc,. He was a beautiful tenor and for many years, he and his wife and daughter sang in many places around town as well as belonging to the Just Us group which performed at area retirement homes, nursing, homes, the and Margaret Chase Smith Library among other places. He has been very active in community events with the Chamber of Commerce and SCAG, having helped run the Getting to Know You Fair at the Skowhegan Area High School for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, after 66 years of wonderful companionship, his daughter Toni Jo Whittemore Blaisdell and her husband John of Skowhegan and Norridgewock, his brother Carleton and his wife Tillie of Skowhegan, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Alton and Pearl Whittemore, brothers, Kendall Joseph, Alton and Warren and his sisters, Katherine Giroux, Marguerite Richardson, Altena Cahill, and Flora Zappala. He will be sorely missed. |

She was born 24, 1920 in Fairfield, Maine, daughter of Wallace J. and Roseanna Lemelin Bilodeau. Dorothy was a cheerleader at Skowhegan High School and graduated in 1938. On 20, 1941, she married Raymond Clifton Whittemore. were happily married for 62 wonderful years. She was a member of Notre Dame Des Lourdes Daughters of Isabella for 65 years, holding several offices and a State Trustee. She served as the President of the Ladies of Saint Anne, and was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader. She was a Eucharistic minister, served on the Social Peace Commission, and was Secretary for the Parish. Dorothy loved to sew, knit, crochet, make crafts of all kinds, and play cards with her circle of lady friends. Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was employed by, Somerset Shoe from 7/19/1938 - 12/1942 as switch board operator, payroll and billing clerk, Lyons Music Co. doing general office work from 1953 - 1954, Cranes Department Store as a Sales clerk from 1956- 1957, Depositors Trust in the bookkeeping department from 3/1957 - 11/19/1960, Sampsons Administration as bookkeeper of 5 stores from 1961- 1965, Arbor Acres Farm doing general office and bookkeeping from 2/21/1966 - 7/25/1975 until the farm closed and moved to CT and was rehired doing pedigree records from 8/12/1966 - 7/25/1975, Lankins Harchery & Richardson farms doing bookkeeping and general office work from Sept. 1976 - 1980, Notre Dame de Lourdes working part time to do office work from 1982 - 1983, and she also worked as an Assistant to the Skowhegan Town Clerk, treasurer and ballot clerk. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her parents and husband; a brother Wallace J. Jr. and his wife Priscilla Dionne, and twin sisters Joan and Marie who died at birth and a son Jeffrey Peter who also died at birth. She is survived by a sister Juliette; children David Raymond and friend Sandra of a; Raymond Clifton Jr. and his wife Jolene of Bedford, NH, grandsons David R. Jr. and wife Julie of Winslow; Matthew Wayne and his wife Tammy of a; Martin Peter and his wife Catherine of Portland, great Grandsons Casey of Winslow; Tyler and Trevor of a. Great Granddaughters Nicole and her husband Jason Blake of Richmond; Margaret Robinson and Charlotte of Portland, great Great Grandsons Alexzander of Richmond; and a Great Great Granddaughter Alexis of a, a sister Juliette of Melbourne, FL, a half sister Dorothy Moran of Madison, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 21, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water Street, in Skowhegan with the Father John Manezzi officiating. A burial will follow at the Calvary . are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards , 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
