Obituary: Bowdoin - Bud Merton E. Wagg, 89 of Lewis Hill Road died , 25, 2010 at his home surrounded by loving members of his family. He was born in Bowdoin 12, 1921, the son of James and Edna (Buker) Wagg. He was a lifelong citizen of Bowdoin and Bath, well known and respected by the people of surrounding towns, attending local schools in Bowdoin. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army as a member of the 234th Combat Engineer Battalion. During his service in the European theater he was at the Normandy Beach invasion on D-Day. He married Beatrice H. Sheen in Bowdoin 1, 1950. He was employed at the Bonafide Mill in Lisbon Falls and the Bath Iron Works for 30 plus years as a painter and sandblaster retiring in 1986. He was a 50 plus year member of American Legion Post 202 of Topsham, VFW Post 9150 of Lewiston and a life time member of the Topsham Fair Agricultural Society. Bud, in his younger years enjoyed training raccoon hounds and attending field trials and water races throughout the Great State of Maine. Additionally he worked in the woods harvesting trees with a bucksaw and team of oxen. He was a self taught guitar player who never read music but would hear songs and lyrics and then play them flawlessly, a rare talent. His hobbies and interests included raising vegetables, playing cards, attending fairs and watching ox pulling and harness racing. He was a devoted and dedicated family man that would make personal sacrifices for the betterment of all. As a father he enjoyed his children, especially family vacations at Lake Sebasticook in Newport, Maine and as a grand-father he ensured they all had special memories and the understanding of quality time spent with them, whether it was singing them a song, taking rides through the country or taking them out to eat. As a great-grandfather he reaped the benefits of their youthful vigor and spirit knowing that the next generation was here to carry on and they all put a smile on his face. He was a true gentleman even in his advancing years as he would never miss the opportunity to hold the door for the ladies and greet them with some pleasantry. He was an avid New York Yankee fan. He is survived by his sister, Wheeler of Bowdoin. A daughter, Brenda Bussiere and her husband Armand of Durham and Sons, Merle E. Wagg and his wife Deborah of Bowdoin and James and Mary Pike of Bowdoin. He is survived by six grandchildren, Merle J.Wagg of Bowdoin, Julie A. Wagg of Bowdoinham, Theresa Pinkham of Georgetown, Ryan C. Lemelin of Bowdoin, James Wagg of Bowdoin and Brian M. Wagg of Bath. He is survived by eight great grandchildren, Jesse, Ariel, Haliegh, Nicholas, Matthew, Margaret, Jacob and Kayleigh. He was predeceased by his wife Bea, a sister Margaret, and two infant children, daughter Lorraine and son Ralph. The entire family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Benjamin S. Herman and his nurse, Diane as well as the entire CHANS Hospice staff during this trying and difficult time. Their professionalism and support was extremely beneficial to all family members and ensured Bud received the comfort and dignity he so richly deserved. services will be held at 11AM, , 30, 2010 at Crosman , 40 Main Street Lisbon Falls. Obituary: William John Waeldner, Jr. 94 Falmouth - William John Waeldner, Jr., 94, most recently of Falmouth, died peacefully on 21, 2015 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Bill was born in Hawthorne, NY on 26, 1920, a son of Philomena (Young) and William John Waeldner. He attended St. Marys High School in Katonah, NY and graduated as Valedictorian with the Class of 1939. He then attended the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering, Class of 1943. Having graduated during World War II, Bill began working with Curtis Wright Propeller in Plainville, NJ. In Plainville, Bill met his future wife, Adele Irene Burch. Bill and Adele got married in 1944, and together they had six children. 70 years of marriage, Adele predeceased Bill on May 28, 2015, less than three months ago. the war, Bill began working as an engineer for Anemostat Products in New York City, and he moved with the company to Hartford, CT and then to Scranton, PA. Bill had a career of more than 60 years with Anemostat. While at Anemostat, Bill had numerous patents issued in his name, and the company recognized his meaningful accomplishments by opening an aeronautical laboratory in his name. Bill was a lifetime member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers), which honored Bill as a Fellow in 1993, and he received numerous other industry awards. He was also a member of Rotary International and Knights of Columbus. Given a keen intellect, Bill was a handyman and loved to tinker in his home workshop, fixing and repairing engines, appliances and many other mechanical items. For over 50 years, he and Adele would vacation in Melvin Village, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee with their family, and Bill loved working on his antique wooden boat. Bill also enjoyed all Notre Dame sports, especially football. Bill was a contemplative man of few words, and he often gathered information by answering a question with another probing question. Bill is survived by his daughter Shoshana Israel of Northport, WA; his son William J. Waeldner, III, of Waverly, PA; his son Frederick Waeldner and his companion Michael Bobick of Brooklyn, NY and Dalton, PA; his daughter Maria Smith and her husband, Warren, of Natick, MA; his son Robert Waeldner and his wife, Brigid, of Yarmouth, ME; his grandchildren: Sarah, Kelly, Laura, Ellen, Katie, Luke, Matt and Roxann; his four great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Yoshiko Waeldner of Greenbelt, MD. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Adele; his son, James Waeldner and his wife Liz; and his brother, Robert J. Waeldner. During the last eight years of his life, Bill was afflicted with macular degeneration, and he became wheel chair bound. The family would like to express their appreciation to his caregivers for their exceptional care, and words cannot adequately convey our gratitude to Kate, Melinda, Anno, Jess and Nicole, and also the entire staff at Bay Square and at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Appreciation also goes to the members of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church who opened their hearts to welcome Adele and Bill, strengthening their sense of belonging and Catholic faith. Obituary: Adele I. Waeldner, 92 Falmouth, ME - Adele Irene Waeldner, 92, of Falmouth, ME, formerly of Waverly, PA, died on , May 28, 2015 at Maine Medical in Portland, ME. She was born on 27, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ, one of three daughters of Vincent Gburczyk and Jadwiga Kowaleski Gburczyk. She attended local schools and graduated from Bloomfield (NJ) High School before graduating with a B.A. in Education from Jersey City State Teachers . In 1944, she married William J. Waeldner, Jr. and together they had six children. Adele was busy raising her family, making a home for them, and at various times, teaching in Catholic elementary schools. She was an active member of her parish and taught religious education for many years. In her youth, Adele had an interest in archery, but this gave way to becoming an avid reader, walker and gardener. She had many interesting, personal stories that she enjoyed passing along to her family. Adele will be remembered as a loving, caring and accepting woman who was deeply committed to her family and her faith. Adeles never ending kindness and relentless energy, no matter the situation, will inspire many for years to come. Adele is survived by her husband of 70 years, William J. Waeldner, Jr. of Falmouth, ME; her daughter Shoshana Israel of Northport, WA; her son William J.
