Obituary: Bernice, 93, a native and resident of White Castle, passed away morning, 5, 2011. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in White Castle on , 8, beginning at 1 p.m. with the celebration of her funeral Mass at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at the White Castle . Bernice was a beloved homemaker and retired school bus driver. She drove children spanning several generations to local schools and field trips. In 1967, she became the first woman to serve on the Iberville Parish Police Jury, serving out the term of her deceased husband, Victor Wintz. Her interests included cooking, gardening and loving her family. She thrived in the presence of young people. She is survived by her daughters, Robbie Lee Tomeny, Sundra Babin (Luke) and Vicky Engolio (John). Her nine grandchildren are Michael Tomeny (Sarah), Victor Tomeny (Janet), Kelly Edwards (Rick), Heidi Tomeny, Tiffany Bould (Mark), Shea Puglia (Frank), Natalie Isaacks (Ryan), Casey Crow (Veronica), and Ben "Rooter" Babin. Her 18 great-grandchildren are Jenny, Matthew, Robert, Trevor, Jade, Sean, Gabrielle, Lance, Robbie, Riley, Francesca, Chelsea, Kevin, Austin, Beatrice, Mary Lynn, Molly and Tyler. Her great-great-grandchildren are Camille and Miah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor L. Wintz; her parents, Robert and Josephine Gomez Savoy; and son-in-law, Michael J. Tomeny. Obituary: William A. Winters, Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully on , 14, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical . Born in Millport, Alabama, he was a long time resident of Baton Rouge. Bill was an active member of Comite Baptist Church and its music ministry. He was enthusiastic about football, baseball and basketball and acted as coach and mentor to many. He was a man with great passion in everything he did and lived life to the fullest. Through his great storytelling and practical jokes, he spread laughter and joy with all those he encountered. Few people on Earth served and loved their families and friends as he did. Much of his life was spent in service to God and his church. His legacy will forever last in memories of all who knew and loved him. Obituary: Mary Lou Trawick Winters, age 79, died after a prolonged illness with Alzheimer’s disease at Poydras on , 18, 2014. Mary Lou was born in Monroe, LA in 1935. An outstanding leader, she served many years as Chairperson and Vice-Chair of the Democratic Party of Louisiana. She served 32 years on the National Democratic Central Committee and attended all the Presidential Conventions during her tenure. She was chief lobbyist for the Louisiana State Medical Society and in 1975 successfully passed (H.B. 817) to protect the medical profession (physicians and hospitals) against frivolous law suits. She never accepted any payment for her services. Mary Lou served 8 years on the Louisiana Judiciary Commission (appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court) and was its first female chairperson. high school, Mary Lou earned full scholarships to Randolph Macon and Sophie Newcomb, however, she chose to attend LSU (which she loved). She was twice chosen Chairperson for LSU Annual Alumni Association’s fund raising campaigns, and twice chosen to be the Key Note speaker at LSU’s graduation. Mary Lou’s favorite quote: ”I am an eternal optimist, I know that tomorrow is going to be better than today.” She was enjoyed by all and she was tenaciously loyal to her many friends.
