Obituary: Velenda J. Bailey Wheatley, 56, of Owensboro passed away , 6, 2012 at the Owensboro Medical System. Born in Daviess on 24, 1955, she was the daughter of the late James Luther Bailey and Lillian Faye Young Bailey Real; was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church; and had worked as a bus monitor for the Owensboro City Schools and as a nurses aide at Daviess Hospital. Mrs. Wheatley enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and church family and working in the church. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, and sitting on her front porch in the mornings drinking coffee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Paul Real and grandparents, Ira and Ella Bailey and Truman and Magalene Young. Mrs. Wheatley is survived by her husband, Joe Wheatley; sons, Jason Scott Tucker and Timothy Allen Tucker of Owensboro; step-daughters, Portcia Jones of Owensboro and Kelly Cunliffe of Charlottsville, VA; grandchildren, Jason JJ Tucker, Jr. , Tia Cheyenne Tucker, and Bailey Tucker; brothers, Larry (Margaret) Bailey of Hartford, James (Terri) Bailey of Owensboro, and Keith (Amy) Bailey of Philpot; a sister, Carolyn Bailey of Owensboro; a niece, Chelsea Renee Bailey; a nephew, Jonathan Keith Bailey; and several step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services are 11 a.m. , 9, 2012 at Crosspointe Baptist Church with Rev. Farrell Isenberg officiating followed by burial in Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Ohio . Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at Glenn and Crematory and after 9 a.m. at Crosspointe Baptist Church. He was employed as a mechanic for Johnson Control, Inc. and was a U. S. Army veteran. He was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, riding all types of motorcycles, family gatherings, and working on cars. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gelita Wheatley, three sons, Brandon and wife Angie, Brad and wife Tiffany, and Ricky, all of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Brayden, Nevaeh, Ariane, Remington, and Skyla, two brothers, Darrell Wheatley of Owensboro and Craig Davis of Leitchfield, his in-laws, Cliff and Brenda Clark of Owensboro, several cousins, nieces and nephews, a special nephew, Shane Davis of Leitchfield, a sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Doug Rowans of Newburgh, IN, and life long friends, Larry Edge, Elvis Brockwell, and Jeff Payne. Services will be 12 Noon , 9, at Glenn and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill . Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Obituary: Gladys L. Wheatley, 72, of Louisville peacefully passed away on 25 at her home with her children and nurse Kathy M. by her side. She was born in Hazard, Kentucky to the late William Earl Hazel (a coal miner) and Ollie Ann Carson Hazel. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Wheatley, two children, Peggy Sue and Bobby Wayne; and dear friend Buddy Napier. Gladys is survived by her children Wanda Montgomery, Sharon Barley (David), Teresa Wheatley (Buddy) and Raymond C. Wheatley Jr. (Tonya); a sister, Shirley Monahan (Mike); a brother, Kenneth Earl Hazel; 14 grandchildren and12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be conducted , 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with committal service in the Kentucky Heritage Pavilion at Resthaven Memorial Park. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his dad, David Wheatley; brothers and spouses, Charles and Erny Rosenbaum of Mississippi, Tim and Nan Wheatley, Lynn and Kathy Wheatley; his sisters and spouses, Kathy and Rick Hall of Indiana, Linda and Tim Bruederle, Dee Dee and Larry Jones. Also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and 1 great great nephew. He was loved by so many friends that they are to numerous to list. He was an avid fan of the Louisville Cardinals and he loved the horses. His service will be on at 5pm at the funeral home.
