She attended school in Lewistown and graduated from Fergus H.S. in 1962. She moved to Kansas City in 1964 to join her parents. Kathy was married and from that union came the greatest joy in her life, her daughter, Christiana Lynn. She was very active all her life supporting her family and community through teaching activities and raising monetary funds for many organizations from 1965-96, holding many secretarial and presidential positions. She raised money for the childrens charities through bowling. She was a counselor for troubled youths. She was on the south side chapter of the Business Womans Association and member of the Delta Alpha Chapter of Betta Sigma Phi holding several offices, and one year received, Girl Of The Year award. She was an active member of K.A.R.E. and a volunteer for the Edwardsville Fire Dept. her divorce she returned to school: at KCKCC and was an honor student. She worked 18 years at KUMC as the Chief Mortician and Pathology assistant. She was the first woman to hold this position. The next 16 years she worked at Family Dollar and Dollar General as their clothing coordinator. She was a charter member of Lambda Chapter of Sigma Phi Sigma mortuary fraternity and has written articles for the mortuary magazines. She was an active PTA parent raising money and organizing professional speakers to talk at many programs. She was active with the 4-H along with supporting the LRA (Leavenworth Road Association). The last 10 years of her life she became very active in raising funds and promoting the F.O.E. (Federal Order Of The Eagels) in Wyandotte . Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Betty Hogue, and her daughter Christy Blackman.She is survived by her brother: Ronald Hogue and sister in-law Lois, their daughter: Audrey Hogue, Rachel & (Josh) Stanley and their daughter, Abby, her SON -in-law Mathew Blackman and the treasures of her life, her two grandsons: Curtis and Lucas Blackman. She is also survived by two step daughters from a previous marriage, Cindy Warren and her significant other Ferrell Martinovich and Donna Havens and their entire family. Obituary: Bettie Warren, 88, of Leawood, Kansas passed away 18, 2013 after a short stay at the Sweet Life skilled nursing facility of complications of Alzheimers disease. She was comforted in her last hours by her entire immediate family. Bettie was born in 1924 in Bethany, Missouri and lived there until her graduation from Bethany High School in 1941. Shortly thereafter she moved to Kansas City and later met and married her husband, Max Warren and lived the rest of her life in the Kansas City area. She and Max raised a family of four children and Bettie became the ultimate homemaker and devoted her life to her family and close friends. She excelled in providing a loving home for her husband and children and enjoyed cooking and baking, was a exceptional seamstress and loved sewing for her daughters and fashion designing, and home decorating. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years and active in the church up until about 5 years ago. her family was raised she became active in volunteer activities at her church and with a re-sale shop for the American Cancer Society in Leawood. She was predeceased by her youngest son, Mark Kevin Warren, in 1994. Bettie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Max, her son, Aaron Lynn Warren of West Palm Beach, daughter, Pamela Westfall and husband, Dr. Wayne Westfall of Kansas City, Missouri, daughter, Jan Barnett of Leawood, Kansas, and Betties two grandchildren, Erin Westfall and Dr. Adam Westfall. She is also survived by her siblings, Nadine Nichols, Eda Marsh, Marilyn Huit, and Ron Burton, extended family and friends. Invaluable to Bettie and her family were two young women that gave tirelessly of their time and talents to assure that Betties last few months were the best they could be. Carrie Ruzich, was a loving care giver that came from the Senior Helpers organization and became a trusted friend as well. Toni Stauffer, R.N. assisted Bettie in her health care needs. Both women gave lovingly of their time well beyond the scope of their work. Betties primary caregiver through the years of her Alzheimers disease was her loving husband, Max, who made her well being his primary focus in life and his devotion to her care is revered by her children and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. , 16, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman , 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Interment in Mt. Moriah South.
